It's cute, simple, small, and bright--reminiscent of a small, colorful, plastic USB thumb drive. But best take the advertised retail price with a grain of salt. Even at its "drastically reduced" current price, it's fully valued. Of all the reading lights I've tried, this one is the least practical, the most unlikely to see any use. Clip it to a pajama or shirt pocket or to the neck of a T-shirt and, even if you're able to get the beam pointing in the right direction, the least amount of movement is apt to throw it off course. Clip it to a screen or book, and prepare to be blinded. Your best bet, finally, appears to be sticking it to your nose with chewing gum.

I've seen some reading lights on Amazon, even slightly less expensive, that are more practical because of a gooseneck extension that permits focusing the light on the reading text. Or for a couple of bucks more, you can pick up a light that straps around the reader's head (sounds bizarre but is surprisingly comfortable and effective).

The "almost" in the title concerns a bit of confusion about the seller's claims. At one point in the description prefacing the item, we're told the lamp consists of a single light exceeding the power of 3-light lamps; but further down, the item is described as a 2-light lamp, affording the user a choice between one or two beams. The two choices offered the user are traceable to the rotational ability of the light. It can be pointed straight outward or rotated downwards. Either way is equally problematic, and neither accounts for the seller's claim of some "proprietary sensor switch" supposedly governing which of the two positions is used.

Like Brussels' famous Manekin Pis statue, the main challenge for the owner of this little squirt is to get it to aim straight.
