This handsome outdoor motion-activated light is easy enough to install, sets up easily to illuminate the intended area, but is WAY too sensitive for a smallor medium-size patio with leafy container plants and occasional breezes. Sensitivity adjustment might work better for larger open space (a flat lawn with tall motionless trees?). With this unit, the only way to keep the lights from turning on all night (especially when a breeze is constantly moving patio-plant foliage) is to reduce sensitivity almost completely, which means that, on a quiet night with no breeze, motion-detection then becomes too slow -bad for security or homeowner convenience. Our older Heath-Zenith unit had no problem differentiating between the changing heat signatures of moving plant foliage versus moving humans (even little ones).

I set this on the lowest setting and it comes on constantly.If you live where there are any trees with in 50 feet of the light or the wind blows,

I wouldn't recommend this light.

This light is garbage. I am sending it back for a refund. All attempts to get it to work properly have failed. Even with the sensitivity turned as low as it goes, the light continues to trip falsely. Spent a lot of time trying to adjust it. It works great in "Test" mode. I give it one star as it won't let me give it zero stars.

The sensor on this light is too sensitive for anywhere other than your basement. It does come with a sensitivity adjustment which is great, except even when set as low as possible it still turns on and off all night. Yes this light works as advertised, but the constant false alarms waste tons of electricity and will bother you and your neighbours. I recommend spending a little more on a quality brand.

UPDATE: This unit has stopped working completely after a few months. I suspect the sensor could not handle the upstate NY winter. Now I am looking for another fixture and have to waste time redoing this project.

This lighting fixture has some good features, good build quality and looks but is lacking in some areas that were important to me but not evident from the product information. They do not work with Compact Flourescent Bulbs (CFB). The light will work when they get a motion signal to come on, but when the timer times out, the light act like a strobe light, flashing very rapidly. Also, I wanted to have some of the fixtures I ordered to operate nightly from dusk to daylight on the photocell and not from the motion signal. You can set this mode by switching the light switch, but you have to do so every day as the unit resets itself each day.

So, if you are using standard light bulbs and want standard motion detection switching, this is a five star fixture but not for my use.
