Its a great flashlight. Extremely bright and can be compared to my Surefire P60 installed with 150 lumens CREE Led bulb. I compared it side by side and it as almost as bright. Amazing small flashlight! Also its 40-50% cheaper in Costco (about 5 bucks a piece). The features that I'm talking about is when you press the tail cap...you don't have to press it 3 times to turn it off(1st 50%=light; 2nd=100% light; and 3rd press= Strobe light). After pressing the first or second time (if you want to skip the strobe light because it very annoying)...just press the tail cap for 2 seconds and it will skip the other light options and will simply turn off. Also if you want momentary....just press it for 2 secs and you will have momentary light. Very useful for me.This a good back-up for my job or even a main flashlight in case my Surefire is not available. It very handy. Its a good buy vs my Surefire which is 400% more when it comes to price.

PROS:

Very bright. Not quite as bright as a 105 Lumen "LED Lenser 7438" tested side by side.

Metal, feels durable, water resistant, good weight.

Really hard to beat the price for an LED flashlight this bright.

CONS:

Batteries seem to drain while not in use? Poor shelf life=unreliable emergency flashlight (this is one of my three instead of four star points)

Works full brightness until it's suddenly just completely dead without warning (Seems to be a common LED light thing).

No ability to focus the beam (has a fixed fairly tight beam, cannot go wide).

The switch cannot be half-pressed or triggered to flash coded signals (this is the other three instead of four star point, not much of a "tactical" light if you can't communicate with it)

Switch is [1.ON/LOW-> 2.BRIGHT-> 3.FLASHING/STROBE-> 4.OFF]

Holding the switch in for a full second will turn the light ON/BRIGHT until the button is released, but the delay can't be bypassed without cycling through the three modes instead.

There are a few "hacks" for this flashlight online. If you want to bypass the battery-draining switch it can be swapped out with a cheapo light's button switch, this can also enable signalling.

For the price, three of these is a pretty sweet deal. If you don't want to "hack" it you're just going to have to unscrew the base to disconnect the batteries to maintain shelf life.

Just picked this 3-pack up at Costco for half of current Amazon price so keep that in mind. Also, I have very little experience with high power LED flashlights. I have been a non-LED mini-maglite user so probably easily impressed. Primary use for the light is for general camping/hiking with some simple cave exploration and as emergency light for the car/bike. Thus the 3-pack is great for stashing lights in multiple locations.

Now for initial reactions to the flashlight. WOW, this little thing is bright with a very good beam spread. Puts the old mini-Mag to shame. Enough light around the edge to easily see what is in your immediate surroundings with a smooth transition to a powerful large spot in the middle for showing things in the distance. Thus for my intended use, the lack of "zoom" is probably not an issue.

The difference from low beam to high beam is not as dramatic as I would have liked. There is a noteable differnce in brightness, but given the short battery life, I would have preferred a much lower power low beam to increse battery life to at least 12 hours. This brings me to the main negative with these lights. The battery life as stated on the package is not very long and from what little experimenting I have done so far with 750mAh rechargables (instead of wasting the duracells) I got about 45 minutes on high power so the 1 hour is probably about right. I only got about 2 hours on low from the same rechargables so the 4 hours might be optimistic with new alkalines? I will probably have to do more testing. Mine was a very simple test of just leaving the flashlight on until the beam was so dim that it would be hard to walk on a black outdoors night using the light output.

On high power, the flashlight body did get warm after several minutes of use, but not unexpected given the amount of light it puts out. The body is heavy gauge aluminum with good fit and finish. Thus it is a heavy flashlight for its size: Hopefully an indicator of its durability. I am a bit concerned about the battery holder based on the poor reviews of the old 100 lumen version of this flashlight. But so far, it has not broken after multiple battery changes and it seems to be a high quality sturdy plastic so they might have improved this as well??

Bottom line is for less than six bucks each, this flashlight looks to be a bargain with good build quality and very bright initial light output. (Output drops as batteries drain.) Due to short battery life, you probably need to keep a spare set of batteries (or 2) at the ready for longer trips. In this respect, I wish this light used AA vs AAA so I could use same rechargables as my GPS, but minor issue.

At a price of more than eleven bucks each, I might start to look toward a much longer battery life light in the same size category such as the Maglite XL50 or 2AA miniMag-LED unless I really need 3 lights for camping with kids, etc. in which case this 3-pack is still probably a reasonable deal.

It seems that LED flashlights are now like PCs in the 80's (You get 2x performance increase for 1/2 the price every couple years) Thus, I did not want to spend too much on something that will soon be outdated. That said, aside from wanting more battery life, which will probably come from LED/circuit technology improvements in this low end price point, I don't really see a need for more light output. (Wanting more light "just because" is another topic!!)

I have only had the light for a couple days so I will update the review if the light stops working after weeks or months of summer use like the first generation 100 lumen version did ...

Bought these at Costco. We have been using these for a long time now. They are annoying because we don't use them that often and when you do need to use one the batteries are dead. Even when off these drain the batteries. Don't understand why. Very good light and quality. If it wasn't for draining the batteries when turned off these would be perfect.
