There are just a couple things that I would consider before buying this bulb:
1) It is not "instant-on" when you turn on the switch; there is maybe a 1 second delay. Not a deal-breaker, but just something to note as opposed to their package advertising.
2) The bulb is heavy. If you are replacing it using one of those poles because it's out of reach, note that this one would do more damage if it fell.
3) It's expensive at $32+. The advertising says you would save $107 over the life of the bulb compared to a 50W halogen flood light at 11 cents/KWH. Which brings me to #4:
4) The Limited Warranty is only 3 years (although they claim it will last 36.5 years at 3 hours/day). Why limit the warranty to 3 years if it's supposed to last 36?
So, this bulb would be a good replacement for your PAR30 incandescent flood lights, but at a cost of less than $20/each, in my opinion. The 3-year warranty worries me and this being new technology, I would wait for the prices to come down on these LED replacement bulbs before going all-in on replacing your existing bulbs. Remember how expensive CF bulbs were when they came out? Same deal here -wait until it makes more economic sense to buy this.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I switched all the light bulbs in my house to fluorescent 13 years ago. They are amazingly energy efficient, but far from perfect. They take a long time to warm up, generate unusual light spectrum, last not nearly as long as advertised and are a toxic hassle when recycling. Therefore I was quite excited about LED lighting when it became available in recent years. Unfortunately, LED remains much more expensive than fluorescent, and so far it makes sense to me only for flashlights and lamps where LED's compact size provides another advantage.This Sunbeam is the first LED fixture lighting I install into the house. It replaces a fluorescent flood light also rated as 40 Watts equivalent. Due to its support circuitry and reflectors, this LED bulb is much heavier than the fluorescent counterpart. It works wonderfully just as I expect, reaching maximum brightness instantly with a neutral white glow. I am pleasantly surprised by the intensity of the light, which seems brighter than the fluorescent, perhaps because the tiny LEDs allow more efficient focusing of the light downward. Overall, this is a great bulb. As the prices of LEDs continue to drop, I fully expect that they will soon become the dominant lighting source in the US.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program While I consider myself a conservationist, I've never bought into the necessity of bringing toxic CFL lights into my home. The tradeoff was never worth it. Let's face it, it is only a matter of time before one of them shatters, releasing mercury into the atmosphere, and tainting your home environment not pleasant. LEDs are a great solution, having none of the CFL toxicity. This particular LED light works great in the kitchen where I've installed it. It is bright, and surprisingly fills the entire room with good light something other LEDs fail at consistently. I highly recommend it. However, prices are stick painfully high to seriously consider. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have one of these installed in the potlight above my kitchen sink. It's incredibly bright. This one LED bulb alone outshines the four Costco CFL bulbs in the other kitchen potlights until they've had a few minutes to warm up. I'm noticing it even more now that fall is approaching and the temperature is cooler.I also like that in my potlights, it's recessed by about 1/4 inch. The Costco CFL flood bulbs bulge out in the middle--making already unattractive potlights even less attractive.
However, the color isn't as warm as the Philips 409904/423343 BC12A19/AMB/2700-800 DIM Dimmable LED 12.5 Watt Light Bulb -Lasts 22.8 YearsI have in regular light fixtures elsewhere. I really like the color of the Philips bulbs better.
I'm not liking the current price, but for a long-term investment, it might work.

I used incandescent but those seem to be past; I've been told if I want to stick with them I should buy up now. Why stick with them? Well, the newer fluorescent bulbs take time, considerable as it gets colder, to come on and that's an issue when you need an instant deterrent for a quick prowler or trespasser. But that brings me to: Do not confuse fluorescent bulbs with LED ones, which these are. Yes, this bulb is slightly less than instant in spite of its advertising claim, but it is quick enough for my purpose, which is to surprise a wrong-doer or occasionally, to provide task light. I have yet to go through a winter with this bulb but expect no performance change. Will report.Saving money? Questionable; initial purchase price is daunting. Even more important, saving electricity? Yes, definitely.
Bulb is heavy; needs to be handled with care. But it doesn't get hot when on for those many of us who for some reason have had to handle a bulb that has been burning. As others have said, when the price comes down, this will be the way to go.
