I really liked the feel and quality of the dimmer when I got it, however I was really disappointed when I plugged it in for the first time. The high pitch noise that is usual with any dimmer was much louder than my other dimmers. Unfortunately there is no way of muffling the sound without loosing the remote capability. I'll either have to return it or install it at my in laws.

This item is great and I think it's almost a must for LED strips. It is very easy to use and set-up.

There are 3 parts: front cover (the square frame), the main component with the switch, and the back box. And the remote, of course.

I would test it first. First, take the 3 parts apart. There are 4 screws / terminals ... Power in, Ground in, Power+ out, Powerout... From the power converter, black wire goes to GND and red wire goes to DCC (I think that's what they called it). Then LED strip red wire goes to Out+ and black wire goes to Out-. Just make sure that the polarity is correct and things are ready to go.

But to set up, you'll need to thread the wires through the back box first, then connect to the main component. Then you can replace the front cover (make sure the semi-opaque square is over the red light on the main component).

The remote is very easy to use, self explanatory.

Got these for the 5 Meter Reel Warm White 3100k Flexible LED Ribbon 300 Leds 16 Ft, sold by LEDwholesalers.

The unit is sturdy and reliable, and the remote is really neat!

The only issue I had was that I wanted the remote sensor to be hidden, (the remote is IR-based, so it needs line-of-sight to this box) so I had to desolder the IR receiver and move it to a concealed location on the front of our cabinets, but that was a cinch.

If you don't want to deal with that, you could just stick this box in an inconspicuous location and not worry about it.

Bottom line, the product is great, flawless, and I highly recommend it for dimming LED lighting.

This product works as advertised. I use the dimmer to control LED lights on my motorhome.

Cons:

The dimmer knob is very hard to grip and turn due to the shape of the knob. I set the knob to 100% and just use the remote so not a big problem.

The remote must be very close (6 feet) and be able to see the IR pickup on the dimmer.

I'm an electronics engineer and have to say this unit is amazing value and works pretty much as stated. I can't get the presets to work on the keypad but that hasn't been a problem for me. I have installed two of these dimmers one for internal lighting of two neighboring wall kitchen cabinets and a second for under-cabinet counter-top lighting. The dimmer box controlling the internal cabinet lighting I have fixed on top of the cabinet facing the ceiling and totally out of sight. The second dimmer box I have mounted underneath one of the cabinets facing downwards towards the countertop, also out of sight. A single remote works perfectly by pointing the remote either towards the ceiling to control the cabinet lighting or towards the countertop to control the under cabinet lighting. It works because infrared light reflects (bounces) off surfaces, particularly shiny surfaces such as countertops. Both dimmers are supplied with a single 2 amp 12 VDC power supply which provides enough power to more than adequately light up two 6ft strips of high efficiency LED's.
