The idea is great. When I first put them in (3) they worked great then two of them started coming on by them selves. When I did a little checking on line it would seem this is quite common. So far I have only had problems with this type of switch, so I am thinking of changing them to the XPS3 which requires a neutral wire, but it seems to be a more heavy duty & reliable switch.

I've got a couple of these installed throughout my home. Takes only a minute to install and they work great. To be honest, I've only installed these into places where I didn't want to use the wall switch. So I can't vouch for the usability of the swtich itself. I use the remote to control the switches. These switches do dim, and they return to that same dimmed level after you turn on/off. These will work with your existing faceplate for a traditional wall switch.

We bought 2 of these to use with a remote control device. Both switches stopped working all together after less than 1 week. They could not even be operated manually! We are not sure of where to go from here, but we are loathe to buy 2 more and try again.

These work great. I have 3 lights that I control. These lights have switches that are in different rooms. I have 2 wall control switches located in 2 different rooms in central locations. They both can control these 3 light switches. My lights are outside and I like to be able to turn them on for visitors or for outside adtivities without going to the garage or downstairs to where the switches are located. With the remote switch, I can control them from our bedroom or from the kitchen. Love them.

The X10 remote control light dimmer switch I ordered did not work correctly. The light, at full illumination with the X10 switch was much dimmer than the light used with a standard switch. Since it would cost me as much, or more, to pay to return the item for repair than I paid for it originally, I put a standard switch in and called it a day.
