For some reason BR40 120W incandescent bulbs are becoming hard to find. Most of the 60W bulbs are just not bright enough, and many of the 120W bulbs that are available cost upwards of 20 USD. The fluorescent bulbs are awful because they start around 30-40% brightness and take upwards of 10 minutes to reach full brightness, which is unacceptable for use in kitchens and bathrooms which require instant lighting.

Would have given it 5 stars if the profile of the bulb was better, however, like many BR40's it is a bit wide in the middle. Some fixtures may not fit this bulb properly, and may require narrower bulbs, which was the case for my bathroom/fan fixture. To fix this you can try to adjust the bracket in the can to slightly lower the socket, or you can try a 1 inch porcelain e26 socket extension.

I give this bulb a 3 star because I just purchased them recently. I will increase the rating if they stand the test of time. It has been my experience that using the 130V bulbs usually get better longevity. They withstand power surges better.
