This flashlight really light up dark path, even feels brighter than a car light. I have a brighter flashlight, but it is longer and more cumbersome to walk with. I can hold this flashlight easily by my side and scan the pathway and sides while walking my dog. The only bad thing is that by the time you buy good batteries and charger, you have essentially doubled your investment, but I find that a small price for the added security of a night walk.
