I received this lamp as a gift. The lamp itself is OK -it looks a little cheap b/c the cord & switch dangle on the outside of the lamp pole, and it's also a bit wobbly, but, the upper lamp throws nice light. However, the real issue I have is finding a lightbulb for the small reading lamp! After trying 3 different specialty lightbulbs (all either too big or too small of a base) I read the reviews on Amazon & realized that the reading light takes an R14 "Intermediate base" lightbulb. The sticker on the lamp doesn't specify that, and apparently that size bulb is not carried by major retailers in the greater Green Bay, WI, area! So, I have had the lamp for about 2 months now & haven't a bulb for the reading lamp. I'm hoping I can buy the correct size bulb on Amazon & finally get to use the reading lamp! Fingers crossed...!!!

I am disappointed with this lamp. First of all the flexible reading arm takes an intermediate size base for the bulb to fit. That means that you can't yet easily find LED bulbs for this part of the lamp. The whole thing of finding the "right" based bulb was off-putting and there are no hints as to what to look for. It ends up being a ceiling fan bulb and comes in mostly clear glass. Not reader friendly on the eyes! You must still make sure the bulb says intermediate base or it will not fit. Second the switches are placed on an exposed cord that runs the full length of the lamp. That means you have to be close enough to the main tube to turn on the reading lamp. It would be the same as having an extension cord the length of the lamp with a double switch in the middle to turn the lamp on and off. The lamp was not expensive and I guess I got what I paid for.

Very easy to assemble, looks very good for the price, top lamp good for brighter room ambiance with the gooseneck lamp handy when there is no space on desk or no table nearby for reading lamp. Appreciate that bulb type and number is printed right on the lamp so one doesn't have to look up a piece of paper later.

Honest reviews on Ikea NOT Floor Uplight/Reading Lamp

Neat lamp for the price. Was looking for a floor lamp to put by my recliner for reading and laptop purposes, and this one fit the bill.

Is assembled in 5 'screw on' segments with plastic lamp shades. The cord with twin on/off switch is mounted externally with 2 clips provided to dress it along the shaft---I added 2 more black zip ties to further dress mine. The color was dark brown and so the black cord is not too noticeable to the practical-minded but may offend the aesthetic crowd.

Assy was easy & fast with the only hitch being the type R14 bulb called out for the reading lamp portion..was marked with a sticker on the inside of the shade, but the 'base size' was not mentioned---reqd an "INTERMEDIATE BASE' for the R14 ($5 including tax @ Home Depot).

The lamps came in a small package which was easy to assemble. You need only a Phillips' screwdriver. Slight wobble to the lamp but the base is fairly heavy and I think it will be ok. The top portion of the lamp takes a standard 100 watt bulb. The reading portion takes an R14 indoor spot light bulb. After trying to insert a standard bulb I had to google the R14. I ordered one though Amazon at $8 and change. It came today but will not fit! Too big of a base. Now I see that you need an "intermediate" base...whatever that is. Now I have to go to the hardware store and buy another light bulb. I feel like I should be the punch line of a joke! "How many light bulbs does it take for a 50-something woman to read a book?"
