This is such a cool product. It seems that Cooper has thought of everything. The amount of options you can set is kinda baffling considering the only means of input is pressing the light lens. In this sense it is a far better product than its Leviton counterpart. There's even quite a range of light intensity -the lowest setting barely lights anything up, while the brightest would probably hurt your eyes in an otherwise dark room. Even the screw terminals are better than Leviton's, combining the best of the quickwire and regular screw functions.

On the other hand, the fact that this nightlight is so nifty brings to mind the last couple of things that could have made it perfect. First of all, the light is not cast in a very wide angle. I don't have it in front of me, but I think it's around 90 degrees or so. If you were going to do a few of these in a long dark hallway it would work pretty well, but for just one in a room it's not ideal. If Cooper made a new version I'd like to see a lens that bulged out a bit from the wall so that the light throw would be closer to 180 degrees.

The other thing I'd want is a motion sensor. That's what I'd assumed this was before I bought it (it's actually a light level sensor). As it turns out, the light sensor makes more sense depending on where you use it, but it'd be nice to have the choice.

For what it is, though, it's a very nice upgrade from a plug-in nightlight. Chris gives the Cooper Nightlight Receptacle 4 stars.

The Cooper in wall night lights are the best. We have these in the stairwell and bathrooms, and the half plug type in the halls. They have adjustable brightness, with a nice warm light color.

A brilliant design that solves two problems. You need a nightlight, say in a hallway, but you don't want to put something ugly and bulky there. The space between the light and the outlet allows the use of an adapter so you can add a multi plug to convert the single outlet to more if needed.
