Like most Streamlight products, the TLR-VIR hit another home run. I have a Colt LE6940 and an ITT NQ6015 night vision monocular.
My TLR-1 (or a Surefire flashlight) with an IR filter over it is OK for higher illumination indoors or outdoors to about 10-15 yards. However, the TLR-VIR IR illuminator is good for highly increased added illumination to about 100 yards outdoors. Just what I was looking for! The visible flashlight is about 85% of the TLR-1 output. Which is fine. Made with same high quality as the rest of the TLR weapon light line.
Now if Streamlight would make a combo TLR-VIR-Laser, that would be a grand slam for me!
Update: There is one flaw on the TLR-VIR. There is a small dime sized rubber button cover for the remote control to plug into the unit. Popped it off to check it out and when trying to put it back, it just does not really stay in the hole. Slightest jar and it will fall back out. It is not really a snap in cover, will check with Streamlight tomorrow. Edit: called Streamlight and they are sending me another cap, though they admit it really is not a "snap-in" cover. Why they did not do this is beyond me. Not a major issue though.

To be clear, there is a white light, and there is an IR light. The IR light IS NOT AN AIMING DEVICE. YOU CANNOT USE THIS ITEM TO AIM YOUR FIREARM. I personally bought this product with the expectation that it housed an IR aiming device. However, since I like the lights, I'm going to keep this item despite the fact that it isn't everything that I thought it would be. Buyers please heed this notice if you are specifically looking for a device that has an IR LASER!Best Deals for Streamlight 69180 TLR-VIR Visible LED Rail Mounted Flashlight
The caption says that it is a White LED with IR Laser tactical light. It is for pistols or long guns. After I opened the box and installed the batteries, I was disappointed that laser had such a big pattern. Fine print in the manual did indicate that it was a IR LED illumination. It works really well, but I don't need a white light IR LED combination. I have several TLR-2 tactical lights. I was also disappointed that the light would not mount to a Glock 21 or 23. The Streamlight website indicates it will fit a full size handgun. The rail key is to far forward to fit. The tail cap is too large for it to move back far enough. The only thing this tactical light will fit is a long gun with a 1913 railI sent it back for a refund.
