I (just like another reviewer) purchased these lights to replace the lights I purchased from Ikea. The lights I purchased at Ikea were great but the ballast finally gave out and I needed to replace them. Being that you cannot order the lights from Ikea.com and I do not have transportation to make an hour long trip out of the city, I was in search for new lights.

I purchased these lights because of the other reviewer mentioning his similar issue and because these were far less than the Ikea lights.. I could not be happier!! The lights are perfect. They require very little effort and skill to assemble. I mounted them underneath my cabinets in the kitchen to illuminate my counter tops. I have a "right angle" type configuration. A corner light and a light on either side. These lights worked great. The lights assemble in a daisy chain and then connect to a very small ballast (literally an eighth of the size of my previous ballast configuration). You will need to assemble the plug to the end of the wire (simply snap into place) and you will need to put on the on/off switch (again VERY easy). The hardest part of the 30 minute project was using the cordless drill to screw in the screws upside down.

These lights are great and such a great deal. The included halogen bulbs are worth the price alone!! If you want to stay with halogen bulbs instead of the newer (and less attractive) LED lights for your cabinets, I would HIGHLY recommend these lights.

I was agonizing over whether to go to ikea and get another set of puck lights from them after the ones I bought several years ago finally failed. They no longer sell the plastic "NON" lights but instead sell a brushed nickel version for $25 for a three pack. Without an ikea nearby, I went searching for a similar alternative and was excited to find these. At $18 with free prime shipping, I figured I couldn't go wrong, but I was amazed at the quality of these lights and the versatility of the design.

I recommend setting aside some time to go through the directions and really understand the installation before starting. You don't have to have a degree in electrical engineering, but if you hurry and make a mistake you can mess it up. You can also customize your install to make it easier, for example, I knew I was going to plug this into a power strip with a switch so that I could switch on the lights and some other electronics together, so I skipped the cord switch that comes with this kit (save that for some other project..).

The lights themselves are just about perfect for my purposesI needed some direct light over the sink to make washing dishes easier. My only quibble with the lights is that they cast an arc-shaped shadow on the wall behind them because of the shape of the covers. I don't know how this could be avoided from a design perspective, but I have seen under-cabinet lights that cast a more consistent, diffuse light. If you are going for a pristine look in your kitchen, this might be a consideration.

All-in-all, a great purchase. Can't imagine a better light source for $18 and 30 minutes of work!

Replaced with same item after many years. The transformer failed after about 10 years of use. I bought the same one and just replace the wiring with transformer.
