Both models in this series have the same basic design, consisting of:
a base unit (charging station), and
a top unit (detachable flashlight).
They are both meant to be placed on a nightstand or desk, instead of like most other nightlights which are plugged directly into AC outlets.
Both models have the same functions:
As a nightlight, both base and top units glow softly in the dark.
The flashlight comes on automatically in case of power failure, or when the flashlight is removed from charging station.
There is one important difference, however:
The Lady Bug model base unit has a thick AC cord coming out, which plugs into 110V AC outlet.
The Soccer Ball model uses an external AC adapter to convert 110V to 5V DC. The base unit is connected to the 5V DC through a thinner cord.
Both models are very good. Personally, I prefer the Lady Bug design because the flashlight is easier to hold by small hands. But for people who are EXTREMELY safety conscious, the Soccer Ball model is a better choice. This is because its charging station is powered by 5V DC, so there is no danger of electric shock even if it is cracked open, or submerged in water. (Not that you should subject any electrical appliances to this kind of abuse, of course)

After purchasing the Ladybug Palpodzzz for my daughter, I wanted to get something similar for my son. I liked the 3-in-1 capability of this brand, and my 3-year-old son thought his 19-month-old sister's flashlight was great. Now he takes his soccer ball into bed and flashes it on the ceiling to play "lights out" games in the dark in his room with his sister. He can easily return the ball to its base, but I did have to explain that it was not actually a ball to play catch with. The size is perfect for his hands, and it's not too bright as a nightlight. The power button is harder to push than the one on the ladybug, but my son has no problem pressing the button. He has taught his sister how to turn on and off her ladybug and his soccer ball.I purchased this through Amazon.com and received it quickly and in great condition in a well-padded box. I would recommend this for any child who needs or wants a good, cute nightlight.
