I've tried quite a few LED light bulbs and this is the first that
I'm pretty happy with. Until I tried this bulb, my favorite was
an 11w Lights of America bulb sold at Sam's Club, about 500 lumens
with a 4100K color temperature.
This bulb is > 700 lumens with a 3000K color temperature for 16 watts.
Given that a normal bulb has about a 2700K color temperature, this LED
bulb isn't bad at all. For comparison, the Lights of America bulb is
about the same color as a cool white CFL, not bad, but not as good as
this bulb.
I stumbled across this bulb for $59 from Lowes, so I keeping an
eye on Amazon for future purchases.
One thing to note is that these bulbs are pretty heavy.
I'm going to look at some of the other Feit Electric LED bulbs with smaller
sizes for other applications.
Stay away from any bulb that doesn't say what its color temperature is, or
does but is greater than 4100K. Likely you'll end up with a harsh bluish
light which everyone will hate. Also forget the bulbs which have tons of
LEDs in them. They are junk. Only buy bulbs with new high intensity LEDs in them.
I'm hoping now that Feit is making these, and major retailers Lowes and Home Depot,
and Amazon have started carrying them, that quantity will bring the prices down.
They started out very expensive and now they are just expensive.

I purchased this bulb at Lowe's about three weeks ago and have now had the chance to watch this lamp in action. The verdict? This is a terrific product, one of the better next generation LED lamps. The light it produces is clear, clean and powerful, almost indistinguishable from incandescent or halogen bulbs. For once a manufacturer actually clearly tells you the lumens (how much light the bulb produces) and color temperature of the product, something which has been a headache with LED lamps up to now (e.g. "Lights of America" and similar cheapo LED manufacturers). Yes, this FEIT high performance LED lamp is about sixty bucks but the biggest barrier with large scale consumer LED lamp conversion up to now has mostly been product quality, not price. This is one of the first truly higher quality LED PAR 38's to hit the market
Home Depot is now selling a competing Philips LED bulb for about the same price. The prices of these higher quality LED lamps is bound to come down further, which bodes well for the future.

This light puts out the lumens it advertises. The color of the light is a rich, uniform white. One issue I haven't seen mentioned in the reviews: glare. Glare has a specific meaning in lighting which is, in essence, the amount of light that goes directly into your eye when you look at or near the light bulb itself obliquely and the glare from this light is high. ("excessive brightness that may be caused by either direct or indirect viewing of a light source; any brightness or brightness relationship that annoys, distracts or reduces visibility.")
Tbe primary reason for this is the design. In a traditional PAR38 bulb, the filament is deep within a reflector, and thus, when you look at the light obliquely, you see the reflector but not the actual filament. So, not as much glare in your eyes.
But with these and similar bulbs, even though shaped like a reflector bulb for compatibility, there is no actual reflector. The LEDs are out very near the face of the bulb. This means that if you look at the bulb obliquely, the LEDs glare in your eyes, much more so than with a traditional PAR38 bulb.
If the bulb is in a can, so it is unlikely that anyone will look directly up at it, probably not an issue. But if you mount it in a track lighting fixture, this may be a significant issue I found it so.
Even halogen PAR38 bulbs have some issues with glare. Some track lighting receptacles have a deep receptacle which hoods the PAR38 bulb when you put it inside them. This should reduce the glare from this light, but if you do a bit of geometry, you'll see that glare will still be more of a problem with these bulbs, even in such an inset location. More common are track lighting fixtures which simply accepts the screwin base of the PAR38 bulb, with no deep receptacle. For these, there are clip-on cylindrical "hoods" about 4-5" long you can snap over a standard glass PAR38 bulb, which limit glare. However, I found that these hoods, which are designed to clip firmly on a PAR38 bulb, simply won't clip onto the FEIT LED bulbs. It may be possible to modify the clips on the hoods to fit, but it requires some work inside the hood with some pliers to make the modifications, and risks breaking the clips.
So, overall very good, but you need to know the limitations as far as having a wider angle of glare, and work around this.
Honest reviews on Feit Electric PAR38/HP/LED 7-LED 16-Watt 120V PAR38 Flood Reflector
Bought 14 of these at Lowe's when they were on clearance and I like them a lot. Bought 1 at first and also bought a Phillips brand PAR38 LED. I liked the Feit bulb much more since it seemed to give a whiter light. So I went back and bought 13 more to outfit the kitchen/laundry rooms. They were about fifty bucks each at Lowe's. They were marked down since Lowe's seems to have stopped carrying this brand. Had to drive around to 3 or 4 stores to find enough bulbs. I'd say they were worth it at the price I paid. I don't know if I would have bought so many at the price Amazon is currently charging....The slight delay when turning them on is about half a second, but I became used to it within a week and now don't even notice. I;d like to pick up three more to put above the tub & shower so I don't have to drag the extension ladder to the second floor bathroom every year to change the regular bulbs....
