I have been slowly adding tools to my HVAC arsenal for a while, and needed a UV light to find a leak. A UV CFL or incandescent is OK for a party, maybe, but when you need to really get some strong light, this light fits the bill quite nicely. I now have 2 "501b" ultrafire flashlights (red and this one) and both are just really good bright lights.
Due to the brightness of this light, I recommend wearing UV filtering yellow safety glasses, as the strong UV can mess with your vision (hard to focus on bright spot). They also make it a great deal easier to see the fluorescing (glowing) object as the glasses filter out the short wavelengths, leaving only the longer wavelengths (from the glowing object) to reach your eyes.
If you live where scorpions live, this can be a great nighttime outing for kids (or you!) to search for scorpions. Scorpions glow under blacklight, and this could make them glow from a good 15-20 feet away (and they would be even more obvious if you are wearing the glasses).
Note that this requires a single 18650 lithium-ion cell, which is a rechargeable battery. A standard AA, AAA, C, or D, etc will NOT fit. The upside of using lithium ion cells is that the battery life is phenomenal, depending on the capacity of your battery. I have used this for several hours on the first charge and it shows no signs of even dimming.

This will work perfectly for my daughters science project. She has had fun using the UV flashlight to find things that glow.
