OTOH, all the "electric candles" I have seen so far are very dim and don't look a lot like a real candle.

This new product by Energizer doesn't have any of those problems. It is brighter than any similar product (while still maintaining that "romantic glow"), and it looka just like a rather squat, slightly burned down candle in a glass candle-holder. In fact, I turned mine on and put it on a shelf and fooled my house-mate completely.

Completely safe and comes with a set of (of course!) Energizer Batteries. Nice for emergencies, a nite-light or camping too!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm surprised at how much I actually like this little "candle", I got it not really expecting too much but it's something that I use almost every day. I like the subtle flickering that mimics the flame and it has a nice warm glow to it, nothing sharp and hard on the eye and it doesn't scream fake unless you put your face to it. I would love to get more and different colors if they have, although I have a feeling that the warm yellow is the best and most natural, it looks lovely in a dimmed living room or bedroom, and can serve as night light for those who are afraid of the dark or don't want to stab their toes walking in the dark, perfect for a kid room too.... I've used this for over a month and there has been no need to change batteries yet, A+.

(I know everyone thinks candles are even more romantic, but I know 2 people whose houses burned down because of candles.) It is very easy to use. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it is not super bright, and it works best when all the other lights are off.

The flicker gives a believable candle effect, but because there's no heat, smoke or wax, you can use it in places you wouldn't normally want a candle, like on top of fine furniture or near drapes. Outdoors, there's no concern about it being blown out by wind. We use a lot of tea-light candles, so I did a comparison, since this 4-inch model by Energizer resembles a tea-light candle holder. You can buy tea-lights in bulk for about 25 cents apiece, and they last for about 3 hours. This flameless candle is advertised to run for a max of 300 hours on 3 AAA batteries, which cost about $1 each. So with $3 worth of tea-light candles, you can figure on getting 36 hours of light, compared with 300 hours for $3 worth of AAA batteries. You can factor in the cost of the flameless candle itself, but you also need to buy something in which to put your tea-light candles. Plus, your first 3 AAA batteries come included with the purchase of the Energizer Flameless Candles. I think it's a good, smart buy. It would cost you $25 to get 300 hours of light from the tea-light candles, then another $25 for your next 300 hours, whereas the Energizer unit will give you the second 300 hours for just $3 (cost of the batteries).
