This is outdated LED technology which lights poorly considering such a large clumsy unit. I am in Central America and the light is used by my caretaker. My night guard has regular Makita BML 185 flashlight using the same batteries, not a very great flashlight either. I used to own a high end woodworking shop and have owned dozens of Makita tools, and still have many. I consider their product lines some of the very best but as far as flashlights goes, I'd go elsewhere.

ive used makita products for about 12 years doing automotive audio and video installations... i have the 18v set for impact/ and driver drills with the larger flashlight which is awesome.. i tried this one because it is small enough to keep in my tool bag... overall it is a very directed light in a small beam, not impressed at all other than the fact that it will probably stay on for 24 hrs straight. i wouldnt recommend this, i would go with the fluorescent version or the larger 18v light.

This would be a bright LED light if the year was 2001. The light brightness is comparible to one I purchased at Home Depot for $5.99, and it came with batteries and was a handier size and shape.

It may last a long time, but who would care at this light output?

It was returned!

good light not as bright as i thought 25hr run time on bl1815 batt some light is better than none. would be neat to have diff modes like maybe 12.5hrs for twice the light. over all still happy with it.

I bought this thinking the LED would be brighter then my led maglight. Nope, even with the dozen or so individual lights it still doesn't even come close to mags 2 cell single led. I gave it four stars because it's still very useful, compact, and it lasts a VERY long time with the battery but they should have used better LEDs for a contractor grade tool like this.

It's definatly worth the twenty bucks, just don't expect a super bright light.
