I have now purchase three of these flashlights and placed them in my vehicles. These are by far the very best and brightest flashlights that I have ever owned. The new technology with the all new photo cell along with the fact that you only use 2 "D" batteries is a mile stone plus the old superior quality of the Maglite base is a win win. Classic Maglite design, but with modern super-bright LED light. Feels solid, with a good heft to it (made of aluminum and with 2 D cells inside).

Replaces old Maglite from which batteries could not be removed and is a close replica of my old one which I had for years.. Maglite's are the best. Add on: Had occasion to use the new maglite this week while looking for a model number. Found the number which seemed to be written in 1 pt type. Turns out the new feature on this flashlight "ultra bright" made a huge difference. Even more pleased now.

Replaces a 15 year old incandescent Maglight. Much brighter and the light pattern is more even. No weight advantage but should require fresh batteries less frequently.
