The light sensors don't turn them off unless the light is really bright and near the unit but I understand that those light sensors get more sensitive with time.
They have 2 places where the light goes out. A round circle covered with a "defuser" which spreads the light out evenly in a circle and a smaller oval with a "grate" over it which sends the light out as if it was shining through bars. I put the circle down toward the carpet to cut down on the glare off the ceiling and walls.
The 360° rotation allows you to send the light in any direction.

These night lights are 'automatic' LED lights which consume very little energy. They have a rotating head to direct the light on the floor or ceiling or other areas. They are plug-in type and stay snugly in the outlet (small enough to use the other outlet freely). However, the sensors are not so sensitive. Sometimes, the lights are 'on' even in relatively bright settings. It does seem to learn i.e. responds to relative changes in the amount of light in the room but is not consistent. The lights look nice, bright blue in color and there is enough light for you to walk around in the night time.

I bought these because of the swivel feature. They are OK with the amount of light emmitted.I was hoping I could use two of them in a duplex outlet facing in opposite directions. The diameter of the units are too large preventing them to both be mounted simultaneously.
It would have been great if the designers had considered this an advantageous feature.
I am an Industrial Designer and that would have been high on my list of design criteria. 1/8" smaller diameter would have worked without sacrificing engineering factors.

My parents are coming to stay in a few days time, and I needed some night light's to light up the basement apartment where they will be staying during their visit. I didn't expect too much from these night lights, as I considered the cost of them to be cheap, yet I was pleasantly surprised.Although I felt the lights appeared duller than I had expected, they do a great job at illuminating the apartment and allow enough light to see by so that one can find their way around. Although the light is a whiteish-blue color, it is thankfully not overly blue. Being able to direct the light's direction is a useful idea, and allowed a night light to be set up in the actual bedroom without being too obstructive to sleeping.
I like these; they might not illuminate a huge area of space, but I managed to place one in the bedroom, one in the hallway, one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. My parents can wander around the basement apartment all they like, and won't have to worry about bumping into furniture or fumbling to find things in the dark.

I have this night light in the bathroom. This has worked flawlessly for 2 years and is still going.
Our light in the bathroom is to bright in middle of the night. It's especially useful when I take my toddler son to bathroom at night and this light is just the right amount of light.
Love these things.
