I agree with the other reviewer the range is low. I'd give it about 5 feet at high strength.However to illuminate a small room for a webcam, for example, it works ok.
The box for the product suggests that there are other versions with man more LEDs. If you want 30 ft range you'll definitely want one of the more suped up versions.

I'm using this IR to do infrared recordings of insect behavior. I need good light, that doesn't heat up an enclosed space of about 2X2X4 feet rectangular cardboard box. The light at about a foot range is nice and bright. The lamp doesn't heat up after about 1-2 hours of continuous use, remaining warm but not hot to the touch. Have used this IR Light for several years to light up a child's room to allow us to use our nanny cam in complete darkness. I bounce the light off the ceiling from the a few inches down the wall and several feet away from the camera. Image quality is very good, even in total darkness. The range on this light is more like 15ft, but that is probably valid for any IR light ... the effective range is never up to the advertised range. I am pleased with this product and have purchased a second one for use in the garage.
