I'm pretty satisfied with this product since it is just what I was looking for. Read about David's article on New York Times in which he recommended this lamp and I decided to give it a try. I have to say the light is amazingly fan to play with!

1st, it's very bright and well-made light bulb. Much brighter than the 3W RGB light I got for about $10. The remote works great and all the functions work on it, which makes the light more enjoyable.

2nd, mixing of three colors works great. I put them on as mood lighting in my bedroom, when I set the light to gradual change mode it starts to change color softly with all different vibrant and pure colors, which creates really nice aura here!

3rd, When I switch off main power and turn it back on the light bulb will come back on with the same color or mode. It is a smart bulb that doesn't require re-setting again and again, which I consider a very thoughtful design.

The price is a little high for me but the light bulb is great value for what it does and I totally think it worth the money I spent. I can't comment on the longevity of this bulb yet since I just got it, but it's absolutely what I was looking for and I plan to buy two more. Highly recommended.

I bought this lamp based on a review in the NYT. I was looking for a remote controlled light. If you're in the market for a blue, red or purple light this might be your number 1. Unfortunately, the white/ normal light is very blue-ish, cold like an old fluorescent light but on steroids. Bottom line: the white light is too harsh, the yellow is just what it says. If you're looking for a replacement of a "normal soft white " light bulb, don't buy it.

I had a question about the remote and they provided a meaningful answer within 24 hours. I suggested they clarify the product description to reduce the the potential confusion I experienced about the remote. They made the changes I suggested and thanked me for my suggestion.

The bulb does everything described.

Honest reviews on Torchstar Multi-color 9W E26/E27 Rgb Changing Led Globe Light Bulb

I bought this to put in a globe lamp I bought at ikea, and it is great. The rainbow colors are great, the fade rainbow thing is great. It's just great.

The only thing I don't like is that the white is not quite white, its more bluish, and it's not like desk lamp quality, you certainly can't read by it comfortably.

It's more of an ambiance thing.

Also, you have to point it at a certain angle to get the controller to work (check other reviews, this could be the lamp I have it in) and it will lock up sometimes and ignore my commands until I cut it off and back on.

I bought the TaoTronics TT-LB01 and the Torchstart Multi-color LED bulbs at the same time. Both have a remote control, and both have "memory".

The two bulbs had similar brightness, color fidelity, and "temperature" ... at least to my eye.

Both correctly remembered their settings when powered off and then turned back on.

Where they differed is in the usability of the remote controls. The TaoTronics has a iPod-like dial. Like on the iPod, it's a bad idea. The dial provides no tactile feedback, and makes it very difficult to adjust the light to a desired color. In theory, it should provide more flexibility than the discrete choices style control of the Torchstar ... but it doesn't. When trying to hit a given color (e.g., yellow), it's absurdly easy to overshoot past the desired color ... requiring you to "fish" by moving your finger back and forth until the right color is hit by chance. Imagine doing this in real time for a stage performance!

The remote control on the Torchstar has multiple buttons, allowing you to choose any of about 18 colors (including basic Red, Bue, Green, Yellow).

Both provide a form of "level" or "brightness" control.
