Received 48 GE Soft White 100W bulbs, exactly as advertised. Should've stocked up while I had the chance as they are no longer allowed to be sold in stores in the U.S. anymore. Although I fully understand how the new LED bulbs can be more economical in the long run, it doesn't make sense for me to spend $40 per bulb vs. $0.90 to put in a closet or basement fixture that only gets used a few hours per year. There is no payback in those cases. Also, there are no LED's available at the moment that put out the light equivalent of these 100W incandescents. I think the brightest at the moment is the equivalent of a 75-watt bulb? That simply doesn't provide enough light for my liking in many of my home's fixtures. These 48 bulbs should hold me over until a true 100w equivalent LED bulb is available and hopefully in the sub-$10 range.

Washington, D.C.--The 100 Watt incandescent bulb, "phased out" for the sin of consuming too much energy and giving off too much heat, died on New Year's Day, 2012, at the age of 132.

He was survived (at least temporarily) by his cousins, the 75 watt, 60 watt and 40 watt incandescent.

He will be remembered fondly for his warm, homey glow, his gentle cooperation with dimmer switches and his flexibility and usefulness in all indoor-and-outdoor light fixtures. In the wintertime in the colder areas of the United States, including New England and the Pacific Northwest, he provided not just light but a steady warmth that reduced the heating bills by just a bit.

He had a simple, aesthetically pleasing design, so iconic it became known as the very symbol for ideas. It would be an exaggeration to say the 100 Watt ever had any ideas of his own, despite being a symbol of them.

Rarely could you find a more unpretentious fellow. Inexpensive, predictable and harmless--if a tad boring. For a glass globe, he was fairly hardy and wouldn't break that easily if you you squeezed him when twisting him in the socket. And if he did break, he had the good manners not to spew mercury all over the place. And he was never fussy: When you were done with him, you could throw him in the ordinary household trash.

The world moves on. And Progress comes, or at least, what some folks call progress. RIP, 100 Watt. You will be missed.

They aren't sold in stores anymore! I not only bought the whole case [another reviewer said they didn't have space to store them>>the box isn't that big!], but I plan on buying more! I am very careful ecologically speaking with just about everything, but my eyes are very sensitive, plus I use them a great deal for art and stitchery. The newer bulbs, which I use in other lamps, are just too bright and harsh. They actually hurt my eyes. But these soft white bulbs are perfect! I wish they sold the longer life ones in the 100 Watt, but these do last a good while. [Sylvania don't last, maybe half the time of the GE]. Thank you for providing them!

first you want the 100 watt with 120 volt thats how the houses were designed for. and 120 volt is most of house current . if you buy a 130 volt bulb and your current is 120 your bulb with not shine good enough i think is my opnion . usa government is forcing you to lower your energy use by making 130 volt bulbs and now is making leds for homes , there to bright they send photons in packets or small beams . why there bright on your eyes . there efficent leds are using less energy but they hurt your eyes if yo ulook at them but thats my opnion ,but these 100 watt 120 volt are getting scarse .
