This is a beautiful string of 30 crystal clear stars that light up at night. They are solar powered and they charge during the day so they require no addition power wiring. The string of lights is 21 feet and 10 inches long and the stars are nicely made and they are very bright at night. The solar control box has a Ni-MH rechargeable battery in it and it should last for a couple of years based on our experience using these types of outdoor lights.
The key to using these solar lights is to mount the solar panel where it will get strong sunlight during the day. When it is properly charged the LED stars can operate up to 8 hours. It will take at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to fully charge the battery. There is an ON/OFF button on the bottom of the controller so make sure that you turn it on. The LED stars will come on at dusk and operate until the battery is depleted or until the next morning and then they will turn off. Make sure that you do not mount the solar panel under something that will block the sunlight and prevent charging. Also make sure that you do not mount the solar panel under a light that comes on at night as the stars will not come on if the solar panel is lit up.
The LEDs in the stars have a life expectancy of 100,000 hours so they will not have to be replaced. You can replace the battery in the solar unit and we have done this on other solar lights we have. Make sure that you use a Ni-MH battery. The specification calls for a Ni-MH AA size battery rated at 1.2 VDC and 600 mAh. This string of lights is ideal to decorate your patio, deck, gazebo, balcony or around a window. They also look great on a shrub or tree. They are easy to set up and install.
The solar control panel has a push button to set one of two modes on the string of lights. One it's always on when it is dark and the other is blinking when it is dark. My brief video will show you the modes. My wife and I liked this product and we rated it as a 5 star item.
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

(#1 REVIEWER)This is a string of LED lights with star shaped covers for each LED. Attached to the solar panel/battery is a 21' string of cord/lights. The first 6 feet is just cord with no lights after which is about 15 feet of lights. On the back of the solar/battery pack are two buttons; an on/off button and a Mode button which switches between steady and flashing. The lights also feature an automatic mode that will turn the lights on at dusk and off at dawn.
The light set uses a 1.2V AA 600mAh Ni-MH battery. The battery is user replaceable and in my testing provided a continuous 12 hours of light before getting too dim to be of much use. For best results the solar panel needs to be in full sunlight for at least 6 hours every day to recharge the battery..
The light set also includes a plastic stake on top of which can be mounted the solar/battery pack.
These are a fun to use string of LED lights that can be used in many ways... let your imagination be your guide.
The most challending aspect of these lights is trying to untangle them when you pack them away and then pull them out of storage to use them again. I also had a few of the star covers fall off repeatedly... but they can simply be pushed back over the LED"s.
I was provided a sample for testing and review.
