I tried several of the $9-15 variety helping hands and parts were falling off, were hard to use, had bad lenses, were too small to hold a standard Weller unit, etc.
This one is really hefty and solid, with a great lens with a little zoom mini lens. I work with small electronics and sometimes can not see pin numbers on the tinier connectors without this feature. It also has three clips, with good ergonomics, and the lights are great.
If you spend any amount of time working with these for a business, just skip the junk and get this.

I hesitated to spend this much $$ on an item that has several competitors for much less, but I am very happy with the unit. I am a lefty and had no problem swapping the soldering holster with the 3rd helping hand/gooseneck arm. It took all of 3 minutes. There is a small diameter threaded hole that is a connection point for both the holster and the gooseneck. All you need is a P3 phillips bit and a small crescent and boom/done! The euro power adapter is a tad loose, so be prepared to bend the prongs a millimeter or two to ensure a nice snug fit into the US adapter. Been using it a week now and it is a wonderful addition to my workbench! Yes it is $$, but worth every penny imho. The only other tweak that may be nice on future versions would be a wingnut/friction brake for the solder spool so it doesn't free-spool with smaller diameter solders.
