Purchased this kit for an installation on my pedicab. It took quite a bit of shopping around to locate the best price as similar or identical kits are offered for up to 3 times what this one costs and one needs to carefully read item descriptions or risk purchasing kits that are the wrong voltage or lack the controller.
The installation was easy enough. The strip only bends on one plane requiring a few cuts in the strip to navigate curves and corners of the bodywork that I then rejoined with pieces of telephone extension cord and careful soldering. The LED strip is enclosed in a silicone tube for waterproofing, so a generous dab of silicone bathroom RTV was necessary to seal the ends of the tubes exposed by the cuts. The strip itself is quite delicate at the cutting/soldering points so you need to assemble things very close to where they're going to be installed or else you'll risk ripping the connections loose with overhandling. I've been out in some big rain storms since the installation and water was able to get into the ends of the strips. Then a few LEDs dimmed/turned blue for a week or so until things dried out and all is now well.
I'm very pleased with the power consumption, battery life seems unaffected by the additional load of this strip. The controller works well enough but I would have liked a few more options on the chasing light effects. There are no controls for light intensity or dimming (aside from those built into the existing programs), and there is no music or audio sensing mode which also would have been nice. These are not the brightest LED strips out there either, but that is fine with me because they are efficient and aren't intended for ground effect lighting, but rather for direct viewing so others can appreciate the chasing lights and colors. I've fielded plenty of compliments.

I bought 2 of these to accent a jukebox I was making. It was exactly what I hoping for.Pros:
> It can be cut every 3 LED lights. This allows easy fitting to nearly any size.
> The ends are pre-assembled with connects that go to the control box and/or to another LED strip.
> The screen on the control box is clear and bright. It is easy to read and follow.
> The remote control works most of the time. Sometimes a button has to be pressed twice before it works, but it DOES work.
> All LEDs work: good brightness and crispness.
> Battery included for the remote. The control box requires a 12V DC plug. If you don't have one laying around, you can rig one up from the plug end provided.
> This is truly color changing. The pictures do not do it justice. Multiple colors can be exhibited at once, based on the programming.
> The package included additional connectors pre-assembled, if needed.
There was not a lot that I could say negative at this time. The true test is its long-term staying power (e.g. from several months to several years). However, from inspection and initial installation, this is what I can tell.
Cons:
> The LED strip is NOT continuous. It is several segments soldered together. This is not a real problem for me, since I was cutting it into smaller pieces anyway, but it something to note.
> The directions are REALLY REALLY tiny. You almost need a magnifier to read the color options. However, it is English, which is always a plus since the packaging had Chinese all over it.
> The strip is actually in a clear, rectangle, rubber sleeve. If water gets into it, it is going to travel throughout the whole thing.
I would have given this 5 stars if it were not for the rubber sleeve, which seems more of a hassle than it is worth to seal it back up. Also, it would have been 5 stars if the strip was continuous, not soldered strips together (more a structural issue than anything else). Overall, I would still recommended it to anyone looking for a good, colorful bang for their buck.
