I'm using this light in can lights in my shop. It generates a lot of color corrected light and uses very little current. Warm up time is very short (about 30 seconds).

The Amazon.com product description for this light ("Reveal filters out dull yellow rays leaving a crisp, white light") is not accurate. The light is decidedly yellowish, even after running for an hour. Now, if every other bulb in your house is incandescent with this traditional slight-yellow ambiance, then you're used to this color and the Reveal will work or you. But I have a lot of 6500k-temperature "sunlight" bulbs, which are much whiter than these GE Reveals. (The color temperature of the GE Reveal bulb is not disclosed in the product description, but I'd wager it's 2700k.)

That having been said, these bulbs are very bright, and only use 26 watts (vs. the 90-watt bulbs I replaced). Perhaps I'll get used to this yellow cast to the room, but I suspect I'll be replacing these bulbs soon with whiter bulbs (if I can find any that are bright enough and come in the same bulb enclosure), and moving the GE Reveals to a less-used room.

BTW, these do not look like CFL bulbs (that is, the twisty part is contained within a traditional bulb enclosure), nor does the actual light seem to be fluorescent. That part is well-done.

Note that these do not work on dimmer switches.

Warm-up time is reasonable, as long as you don't need to see 100% brightness in the first minute.

The quality of the light from the GE Reveal CFLs is fantastic. It is brighter than the soft whites but it does not produce the sterile light that most of the higher color temperature bulbs do. I've been putting the GE Reveals everywhere in my home and I couldn't be happier with the light that they produce. This particular bulb, however, does take a while to warm up. It will produce some light when you first turn it on, but it takes a few minutes to achieve it's full brightness. This was typical of older CFLs, but I expected more from this current generation.

So the color isn't perfect. So they aren't dimmable. Just like we had to learn to eat whole grain bread because it is better for us, we must learn to change our taste in lighting (and be patient for warm-up, for god's sake) in order to move us to a greener energy future. It is our duty to our children's children's children to use appliances and light bulbs that use less electricity. Get over yourselves and buy CFL's or LED's now and stop whining. Incandescents should be (and will soon be) illegal. Thank God. Evolve.

So...decided to "be green" and change all the kitchen recessed lights to the new GE Reveal compact florescent flood lights. Figured I save on the electric bill, reduce heat emission etc. $75 and 1 week later they are back in the box ready to be returned. They still don't have it right. Takes about 1 to 2 mins to get bright, the coloring is completely off. When the kids were complaining about the Kraft singles "not looking right" I was skeptical, but when my perfectly barbecued medium rare steak looked yellow I was certain. Incandescent to the end of time....screw you ugly florescent.
