We planned to put this over the kitchen table, but the light output is too low, so had to return to Amazon.

The product description states "171 lumens which is approximately a 50 Watt equivalent" but actual light output is far below that, not even that of a 25 watt bulb.

The fixture itself is well made, with a real frosted glass shade and fixture adjustable height provided by a spring-tensioned cable. Fixture height can be adjusted even after installation, by pressing up on a small metal piece to release the grip on the cable.

A small remote control is provided to switch the light on and off.

Perhaps this fixture will work where light requirements are lower, such as for accent lighting. But for over a kitchen table, where usable light is needed, this fixture did not provide enough light output for us.

I hang two of these over our dining room table and are PERFECT! We get compliments all the time! One remote works for both lights. I was hesitant when ordering, but these exceeded my expectations!

UPDATE: after owning these for a month, we have already needed to change the batteries. Major con! Each light takes three D batteries. Also, both remotes just stop working and we turn the lights on by a switch on the light itself. Not impressive.

Not sure if I would buy again, but it does work in a pinch. It does look very nice.

I'm of the same opinion as the 16-March 3 star review. There is just no way this lamp is outputting 171 lumens as advertised. Not even close. I'd be surprised if it was half that. I tried multiple different sets and kinds of D sized batteries to be sure it wasn't a power issue.

While it's easy to install if you're familiar with toggle bolts, the instructions it comes with are an absolute joke and even contradict themselves multiple times.

A few of these would make nice mood lighting, but it is in no way functional as task lighting--which is what it appears to be intended, since it is overhead mounting. Overall it's rather disappointing.

UPDATE: Completely died in less than 60 days of minimal use. The remote control is so cheap that the channels for the AAA batteries don't align to the battery plate. One battery constantly slips out of place, making the controller worthless. Furthermore, the unit is just completely dead. Tried new batteries and everything. What an expensive lesson.
