This magnifier does exactly what it says. The magnification is very good. The lighting is very good. It is a quality item

There is, however, a big drawback that I believe that the manufacturer needs to consider. It is very tall and the bendable adjustment isn't low enough. My elderly father in law couldn't use it while he was sitting in his chair, he could only use it while at the table.

If this is OK for you, or if the person that needs it is very tall, then please purchase this. However, if the person that needs it is shorter or is sitting in a lounge chair, then please reconsider. You will have to return it because it isn't what you want. Which is exactly what I did.

I bought this lamp for my 90 year old Grandmother. She has macular degeneration and was having trouble even with large print books. She is THRILLED with this product. The large magnifying glass has the proper orientation for reading and allows her to see the whole page, so there is no need to move the book around as she reads. The base is stable, so it is easy to move the top without knocking things over. Also, she likes that it is "not huge" and is not a big obstruction in her living room. She is now reading regular print books again better than I had hoped this would turn out.

I can't tell you what a difference this has made in her life it's the best present I have ever given. I recommend this for anyone facing challenges reading due to sight degeneration.

I bought this lamp to assist my elderly mom with reading. I did not pay enough attention to the dimensions. This light is way too tall to use for chair-side reading and the goose-neck will not bend low enough for that use. The height is great for a workbench or while sitting on a tall stool, but not a standard chair or couch.

This lamp is completely useless for use while sitting in any type of chair or couch. The gooseneck does reach down, but by the time you get it low enough it is is a completely useless position for reading of craftwerk.

In order to make this work, you have to cut of the top 12" of the support tube. To do this, you will need to buy a tubing cutter, a tap and die set, and a replacement electrical end plug since you will need to cut the original one off when you remove the wire to cut the tubing. Who designs this stuff? for $130 you would expect that their designers would at least have half an idea how the product would be used.

I purchased this lamp for my 86 year old mother-in-law. Her vision is almost non-existant in one eye and the other is fading. Macular degeneration. She loves this lamp! She doesn't squint and can enjoy reading again. What a blessing. The lamp is very well made with a glass lens, as opposed to "plastic" like most other lamps of this type. The LEDs emit a very bright yet glare free light. It has a heavy base so there is no problem with stability. The only thing I would change would be for the steel post, between the base and flexible neck, to be adjustable height-wise. It's a little difficult to get the lens into optimum reading position for mom as she is a small woman in a low chair and the lamp is just a little too tall. This is a quality product and I highly reccomend it.
