We just bought this security light for our front door because I don't like leaving the light on all night and because we sometimes come in after dark. Sylvania usually has some great outdoor lights that we have used before so when we saw this one we decided to try it. It worked out great! We do have it under the porch mounted over the door and it still picks up from about 20 feet. I imagine that if there is no obstruction it would have a greater distance. It is also very bright and really looks like someone turned on the outside light. Since we just put this one in, I intend to wait for about a week and see how it fairs and too we expect some bad storms..will up date as soon as it all passes, right now, it seems to be working great.

I picked this light up at a local store and it works so well on our covered patio that I'm planning on picking up a few more for around the house. My covered patio is usually pretty well shaded and dark due to the solar screening and the size of it but this light has not had a false activation yet! It literally works exactly the time I need it to which is when it gets just dark enough to actually need a light and then it picks up my movement about 10-15 feet away every time!
