I've replaced about a dozen bulbs around my house with these. Not only are they only about a quarter the wattage of the incandescent bulbs they've replaced, but the quality of the light is far closer to natural sunlight. The yellow/red skew of standard incancesdents is dramatically reduced -these are much closer to the color of natural light. The only negative I have is price, but they are a lot cheaper at other locations...

These light bulbs are just perfect (when they work). They turn on instantly and are bright, not yellow like some bulbs. However, I've had to return two which didn't work at all (when new),and one which was crushed in shipping. They say they last 5 years, but I just replaced one that lasted only 6 weeks. It wouldn't be worth it to pay return shipping and get a partial refund. If you purchase these, I'd suggest purchasing from a local vendor in case they need to be returned.

I find the previous deception from GE ironic, as they have been selling "Daylight" bulbs (6500k) for years. These put out way to much blue light and make people look ghoulish, especially at night. This "Sunlight" at or 4400-5500k spectrum is better suited for most consumer homes. Realize that GE has trailed the market in developing green bulbs: these are designed and manufactured in China. GE just puts there name on it, like Jasco products.

Many consumers are so adapted to yellow (2700K) bulbs, that when they see a white light they can't take it! Both sad and funny. Welcome to the 21st century guys!

Incidentally I measured 4900K which confirms a white light. The overall spectrum is good but other bulbs are better, like photo CFL bulbs. Big Lots has some CFLs that are better too.

I purchased several of these bulbs to replace 100 watt incandescent bulbs in my house. I must say that I've been very pleased. Not only do they give just about the same amount of light, but they go on immediately. Other "normal" non instant fluorescent bulbs (like those from IKEA) are NOT instant on, and you'll be waiting at least a full second after you switch a lightswitch before the light shows up. This may not seem like a long time, but when you flip a switch you'll notice it EVERY time.

Do yourself a favor and buy either the instant on versions, or the instant on (GE or Sylvania) "mini" versions. These are smaller, and give off about 90% of the same light -perfect for cramped places (like a basement with a low ceiling) or small lamps. I have been very happy with both instant on versions -and you'll save 74% of your electricity cost over a regular 100 watt incandescent bulb. A real bargain over time. Highly recommended.

This lights functions very well, as have all the GE Instant-Ons I've ever purchased, but it gives off a super-white hue that's not at all what I was expecting. I imagine that's what the "Sunlight" in the packaging refers to. I ended up not using it because it's a really harsh light that gives the effect of an industrial setting. All of the other GE instant-on cfl's I've purchased give off a much softer light that's more typical of what you'd expect in a home setting. There's nothing wrong with this product if you're looking for that kind of light, but if you're expecting a typical, softer hue, know that "Sunshine" means unusually bright, harsh white light.
