My husband and I first saw (and purchased) this light in a local hardware store. We quickly became so pleased with it that I purchased a second one here on Amazon (for less $ than the first one). We've had both about 6 months.

A. This light is really quite bright. Excellent.

B. It stands securely on its base without being held. Also excellent.

C. But what sealed the deal to get the second one is the hook on top. We immediately saw how easily it would hang in the loops inside our camping tent (or anywhere else you need to hang it) and provide brighter light than most products designed for that purpose. And it absolutely does not dissappoint in that application. Very excellent!

It appears from the picture that the light portion on the upper half might slide down into the solid lower half and be more compact when not in use, but be advised that this is not the case. The lower half houses the 3 AA batteries (not included), so it will not compact down the size you see is the size you get (14 inches seems to include the hook).

The description indicates that this light has two light settings, which it does. On the lower setting, half of the LED lights (8 of them) are lighted. On the higher setting, all 16 LEDs are illumined. The light output is very good on both settings.

So, for us, it is a great task light, but a fantastic tent light!

Absolutely hands down the best "drop cord" type

light I've ever used. That's 'cordeless drop cord

light',actually. No cords to drag over upholstery,

fenders, etc. Really bright, and also is focused

into a beam at 5' or so. No heat. Batteries last

for months. I've even left it on overnight and

was greeted by light the next day. Work under the

dash? This is the ONLY light to use. I'm getting

a couple more. Amazon's price rocks, too!

When I placed the order for this LED light I thought it had LED's all the way around the light. As it turns out it is only the front that lights. Still has good lighting and the hanging hook is great too.

This light was a replacement for a similar light we had that had rechargable batteries. However, this light is better in that it has the 2 levels of light control. The lower level of light is sufficient for most things, and the extra level is good when needed.

It's also good to have disposible batteries so you don't have to deal with the charger etc.
