Bought this for my daughter so she could get back and forth from her house to street (about 20FT) to get to her car safely. Liked the fact it was solar and didn't have to hassle getting electricity run to it. Unfortunately the motion detector doesn't light up long enough for her to get to her car. She has to stand right in front of it for it to come on and stay there for it to stay on. As she says, "it's better than nothing, but not much".Solar Lamp Post with Motion Sensor Review

I bought this light from Northern Tools about two years ago. I have it in partial shade next to my sidewalk so I can see at night to get in the door and to see to walk the dog...I have snakes sometimes at night so its nice not to have to carry a flashlight and a dog leash. I have never even cleaned the solar panel in two years and this light has performed beyond my expectations. Im a sceptic and Im hard to please. It is made from cast aluminum from top to bottom. It is a little top heavy but instead of a permanent install I just placed castle rock around the base. We had a wind storm the other night with up to 50 mile per hour winds. It did not blow down but it all fairness it is close to the house and couldve had some wind protection, I dont know. I wish I could afford many more of these lights. They are well worth the money. Mine had a slight dent in it when I unpacked it but not bad enough to hassle with a return. I really do recommend it to anyone with a cabin or large yard where they want free light. It has held up to the elements and the light is bright enough to see even before the motion sets it off brighter.
