I don't leave many reviews, and I don't think I have ever left a negative one, but everyone should be warned about this product. It's a great idea, but horrible quality. One of the magnets came off within the first five minutes after I got it out of the package. The design is cool, and if it was manufactured properly I would give it four or five stars. As it is, I am returning it right now, and I won't consider purchasing a risk-racing product again until I see evidence that they have addressed their manufacturing issues.

I like the battery container as it really holds the batteries firmly.

However, the contacts from the holder do not seem to contact the circuit board firmly enough. Several times I had the light turn off and require a whack to get it working again. Every time this happened, I had jarred the light (one time it was just moving it so that a different set of magnets attached to alter the angle.)

To solve the problem, I placed a small piece of foam between the battery container and the battery cover. This adds enough force on the leads that seems to keep them in contact. From the looks of the back side of the battery cover, there might have been supposed to be something there to do just this.

In any case, handy light when you need to get light into someplace a regular flashlight just does not sit right.

I pushed the red button, like the instructions say, and the white light came on. Ive pushed the button several times and Now the light won't go off. After removing the batteries a couple of times, the light still remains on. The red light never even came on. Took batteries out and threw it away. Waste of good money.

The first one blew out in 2 minutes. I returned it and got a replacement and it has burned out. It is a snowy day and my seedlings need light. Now I look at the package and read, and research and find out this is called a plant light and sold next to seed starting products BUT it is not a GROW light. Even the package says: it makes plant look greener with its blue tint. GREAT. I want healty growing plants not articificical green appearance for 14.99 plus tax. Save your money and get something that says: provides FULL SPECTRUM OF DAYLIGHT if you are trying to grow anything.

I wouldn't say it's as good as the sun in helping plants grow, but it mimics sunlight better than just about any other lamps I've seen. It is a bit on the larger side of a bulb, so it did not fit in a stand-up lamp with smaller openings, but it fits easily in flood lamp settings and stand-up lamps with wide openings for the bulb. I like that it exudes some heat as well, since Michigan winters do leave the house decently chilly.

The idea of this night light is great. It lightly glows orange, and can also be taken off it's base, making it portable and glowing a bright LED light. The LED light is very bright, which makes for easy maneuvering around the house at night. However, when the penguin is on it's base with the orange light, it doesn't seem to provide enough light to my kids' room at night. It's a good idea, but just not bright enough when on its base.

My kids love these night lights and have used them for years, literally. I have bought probably 20 of them over the years from different places and was happy to find them on Amazon finally (it was getting difficult to find them locally, and the kids really do love them). They charge them during the day, then take them off the stands at night and can sleep with them in their beds, like a friendly little light-up pet. You should know that no matter how many of these we've had none of them has ever lasted 8 hours like they claimusually about 3-4but that's long enough for the kids to get to sleep comfortably.

HOWEVERbe aware that you should open the package straight away and test it out as soon as you receive this product. I have never had this problem before, but 2 of the nightlights I bought from Amazon simply don't light up (and as I said, I have bought them for over 5 years now from different sources). I usually buy a few, put them in a drawer, and wait until the natural life span of the light just wears outwhich honestly has been anywhere from a few months to over a year. It really seems to vary with the individual lights. But NEVER have I had one not work at all; not until I purchased from Amazon, and since I didn't test them out immediately, my "return window" has expired and I'm out $20. I feel like I've been burned on this one!

I am very pleased with this auto-lighting Bumble Bee Stake. I am somewhat predjudiced by Bumble Bee decorations because the "Buzzy Bee" is the mascot of my family's ancesteral business which produces honeycomb tissue decoations.

My grandchildren (the Great, Great, Great Grandchildren of our company's founder) always run to see 'Buzzy' and love to see him light up in the dark.

Frankly, it is a great purchase for me; it's striking in its appearance, and processing was perfectly handled--maybe I should consider another one for my son's yard (since he is also caring on my Great Grandfather's goal).

The package arrived ahead of time which was nice. The bee appears to be okay but I am giving it as a gift and the box it came in looks like it was really beat up. I am worried it was a return. Also there is a lead content sign on the box that worries me. Don't know if I should return it or what. Not very happy about this.

This lamp post comes in 4 sections which screw into collars to reach the full height. When assembled snugly each section is a few degrees off of straight with the prior section. Noticeable but not horrific. Also the four inch cross pieces that jut out of the head assembly are not parallel to the ground. Again noticeable but not outrageous.

The light itself is adequate and lasts well into the night.

I would recommend this lamp with cautions.

construction workers removed an old lamp post from our front yard and never put it back for some reason so I ordered this solar lamp post to replace the old one, not as bright as the old one but it's still better then nothing, and greener so no pollution & don't have to pay extra for the electric bill, and will still work after a power outage

the light is pretty bright and it was the height i was looking for but there were some problems with it

1) its BADLY CROOKED! no matter how you assemble it, the post is NEVER straight. i will have to buy some vine plants and hopefully it wraps around it and no one will notice that it leans.

2) the nut that holds the light fixture to the base becomes loose, so you have to open it up and tighten it. not so bad, but kind of annoying.

3) its just cheaply made. with it being 140 or so dollars, you think you would get something that looks good, but its just crappy metal with cheap spray paint on it.

This lamp is very compact, standing only about 16 inches tall and with a base about 7 inches by 3 inches. I was looking for a practical, indestructable light fixture for my backyard. It didn't need to be pretty, just tough and utilitarian. This fit the bill.

Amazon's dimensions are incorrect. The bulb housing is about 8.5" in height and the diameter of the mount is 4.5".

Pros:

-Solid metal case and fixture. It won't break if you throw a basketball at it.

-The tempered glass housing is very thick.

-It illuminates the area immediately below the fixture which is important when you want to step out into a dark backyard.

-There is a thick rubber seal that prevents water from entering the wiring compartment.

-Easy to install.

-Accepts a standard CFL (compact fluorescent) bulb. There is no bulb included.

Cons:

-Very utilitarian and industrial looking which might not fit your decor.

After reading one of the previous reviews I was concerned about the mounting problems he had encountered, but I purchased anyway I just had to try it myself. Yes the previous reviewer is correct the mounting holes do not line up correctly with a normal electrical wall box. The fixture was designed to be mounted with the included surface mount box bummer. After being a bit disappointed, but not willing to be defeated or use the ugly surface mount box I began to work on a way to mount them. Our house has a stucco exterior so I proceeded to take the old fixtures off and hold the new ones up and marked where each of the four holes would have to line up on the stucco. I used a masonry bit and very carefully drilled four holes into just the stucco and carefully put in a wall anchor. These new holes and anchors worked perfect to mount the fixtures. Remember to take off the rubber gasket from the surface mount box and use it between the fixture and the stucco to make a weather tight seal, a little silicone didn't hurt either. I used various wattages (9w and 13w) of the new Phillips mini twist compact fluorescent bulbs (Home Depot 4 pack for $7.99) in the fixtures and couldn't be more pleased with the light output and how they look. I installed a total of 9 fixtures around the exterior of the house. Building codes can vary across the country I suggest you check yours to ensure your installation complies.

There are five problems with the light. The photograph has the "attachment pads" edited out. That is because they are jacked-up, and must be oriented at a 45 degree angle to install the wiring box. They should be horizontal. The wiring box has no standard electrical installation holes, so you can't use standard electrical components to mate the light to. The light vapor seal glass is slightly too long. It interferes with the explosion proof cage, so the cage does not install correctly or at a nice centerline orientation front to back. The cage will be cocked because you cannot seat it on the intended 3rd detent to snap it in place. The wiring is #18 braided aluminum? Twisting this wire to 14-2 solid copper is tough and may not be to code. The wiring should have connection screws.

Perfect front porch lamps for my beach cottage. Looks like they came off an old tugboat. The glass is beautiful and the whole structure is solid.

I had zero problems hooking it up. That's because I used the mounting box that came with it instead of jimmying it directly to the wall like some of the other reviewers did.

Yes, It is true, and strange, that the photo doesn't show the mounting box that attaches behind it. The mounting box is a cylindrical "can" as wide as the attachment plate shown in the photo and a little less than 1.5" deep. Personally, I think my lamps look better with the the mounting boxes, more like some kind of found nautical relics. I'll post a photo one of these days.

Bottom line: Beautiful, solid, and functional.

We have a long driveway, so I got 2 sets (12 lamps total). Installation was as easy as it gets. Simply stick the lamps on the ground along each side of the driveway. I installed them in the morning so they could get a full charge. When night came, they automatically turned on. It looks amazing, very classy. At sunrise, they go off and start charging again. The lights are powered by the sunlight, so there are no wires. Note that they will still charge on a cloudy day. The lights are 2 LEDs with a lifetime of 100,000 hours each. So if you use them every night, you should not have to replace them for another 25 years or so. The charger is inside the lamp, under the solar panel. Each lamp uses 1 AA rechargeable battery (included and pre-installed) which can be recharged thousands of times. They require no maintenance whatsoever and won't affect your electricity bill. I could not be happier.

I have tried different brands of LED light bulbs, mostly non dimmable, and concluded that LED light source needs to catch up with brightness, color temperature, and in some cases build quality. This pertucular Sylvania bulb satisified all my expectations what LED light should be! No doubt it is expensive, but if you coinsider it lasts over 7 times longer than halogen bulbs, cuts your electric consumption by over 70% its hard to argue! Its nice to know that my light is as bright as any other halogen bulb, is less abrasive to the enviroment (by a-lot!). Dont forget these bulbs run cool, produce warm white light, do NOT use mercury based components and leave you all warm inside.

!!!! Please be aware of other manufacturers that make led bulbs! I have found that common problem is flickering, dim, unnatural color temperature, no dimming! (Dimming bulbs are much more expensive, non dim bulbs will not work in a dimming grid)

Sylvania on the other hand stands alone, and I highly recommend it! Come on people get on board, it makes all perfect sense..

Bought this LED bulb to see how they work compared to existing low-voltage halogen can lights in kitchen ceiling. Seems to be slightly warmer light (not as bright white) as the halogen bulbs we use but that's OK, Definitely cooler to stand under and is marketed as lasting much longer. Only thing noticed is that our kitchen ceiling lights are on a slide-type dimmer switch. The LED only dims slightly as compared to total dimming of the halogens. The Sylvania LED is supposed to be "dimmable" but it is not like our halogen bulbs. Thought I heard from an electrician that there are different types of dimmer switches and not all are the same. So, maybe we have "the other kind" of dimmer that this LED works less well with?

I was one of those kids with a poster of glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling of his boyhood home, and this reminds me of the same thing. The illuminated image from the nightlight is faint, yet crisp, creating the appearance of some kind of glow-in-the-dark paint on the ceiling. It appears as though the picture had always been there. While the knick-knacks on my computer tower sit colorless and poorly lit, there is at least one thing in this room I can spy on with a smile my ceiling nightlight.

It is way too dim to be used as a night light. The projected image is rather small if you like it bright enough to see. The base swivels only in one direction so you better have outlets at the right places. They should have made it battery operated.

I own 4 of these dimmers in both black and white. Here's what I like about them:

1) Great sensitivity in the low light range. I can dim lamp bulbs so low that I can read the writing on them, then go even lower so that it's almost impossible to see anything in the room other than a faint glowing from the bulb. This is nice for the times when we're staying up with the baby and only want the least amount of light necessary to avoid bumping into objects after our eyes have adjusted to the darkness.

2) No noise. We have one of these on a bedside table, and it doesn't vibrate or make any other annoying noises.

3) Soft green LED when the switch is off. The LED makes it easier to find the switch, but the green color is dim enough to be discrete and is a pleasing color (at least to me). When the switch turns on, the green LED goes off.

4) Various mounting options. There is a recessed slot on the back of the switch into which a screw's head can slide for wall mounting. It comes with removable rubber feet to keep it from sliding off a table top. With the feet removed, the back side is smooth, so I glued one to the underside of a bedside table's overhang for a discrete yet convenient location.

I compared this table top dimmer to the one made by Lutron, and I'm happy I chose the Leviton instead. Apparently the Lutron doesn't have as much sensitivity in the low range and it has a red LED that I like less than green.

I bought mine from big box stores since the were significantly cheaper than the Amazon.com prices.

I purchased the less expensive Lutron TT-300H-WH initially, because it didn't have an annoying LED light on it. However, that unit makes an annoying buzzing noise when the lights are dimmed (that is, when the switch is between full ON and full OFF). I returned the Luxtron and got another in exchange, with the same problem. This Leviton makes no such buzzing noise, and it looks a bit classier as well. The LED is discreet though I still put a small piece of white electrical tape over the light so it doesn't distract from TV viewing.

This was exactly what I wanted. The light dims to a near glow and has a nice gradual gliding switch that goes up to bright light. The big drawback is that you have to use an incandescent bulb, otherwise you don't get a good dim (only goes to what I call "less bright"), the transitions are jumpy from less bright to bright and the bulb hums. All of those problems go away with a traditional bulb. The tabletop control has a nice firm grip on the nightstand but doesn't stick or damage the table top. The cord is a good length and the green light that comes on when the switch is off is not obnoxious but is bright enough to help you find the light in the dark. I've been using this light daily for about a month and would highly recommend it.

This is a fine product. It does what it promises. I have aways trusted Leviton products, so when I was looking for a tabletop dimmer this brand stood out. We wanted a dimmer for the lamp in our nursery, which has a 3-way bulb. The other review on this dimmer says that they use it with a 3-way bulb, but the directions packaged with this dimmer specifically tell you NOT to use it with a 3-way bulb. Ugh. I wish that had been in the product description. I guess I will rewire the lamp now.

Before I purchased this dimmer I had a Lutron. I will never purchase any brand but Leviton again. I purchased this as I thought my 100 watt bulb was burning out as it kept shutting off. I like the light to be as dim as possible when I fall asleep as I keep it on all night as a night light. I even changed the light bulb and finally realized that the Leviton dimmer did not hold on such a low level of light. It worked for a while but after a few months the switch loosened up. The switch on the Leviton is tighter and does not slip at all. This dimmer also has 4 rubber contact discs on the other side and does not slip on my end table unlike my previous one(with only 2 discs) that was always sliding off the table onto the floor. I read that some other reviewers commented about a buzzing noise but there is absolutely no noise what so ever emanating from this dimmer. I can keep this on the lowest possible light and it stays that way all night. The green light goes off when the dimmer is in use so I assume it will never burn out. This is worth atleast twice the money and I will be purchasing 2 more to replace my other Lutron dimmers.

I would like to quote from the manufacturer's instructions: Do not use with 3-way bulbs or compact flourescent lamps.

There is also a limited 5 year warranty. Can you beat that!! Today you're lucky to receive a one year warranty. In my opinion they must have faith in their product or they would not offer this warranty.
