this is exactly as the description says .... a lamp that is sound activated , and it work it`s purpose perfectly ... the sound control module sensitivity is not as sharp as i thought it would be but it`s very OK too.

This unit's sound activation stopped working after 5 minutes. One could say that for 6 dollars, what can you expect? And I can reply that if a company sells something, no matter how cheaply, then it should perform as described. I would have rather had the two 4" green tubes for easier placement, better coverage, and the same price, had I known the sound activation wasn't going to work. That being the case, the light is bright and deep neon green. Note too that this light is 15" long, so make sure you can fit it in your case. Check out the Logisys LED lights too. They are really bright, dark green, and very small.

In summary, the light works well and is a deep, dark neon green, but the sound activation is a gimmick.

----

Edit 11/17/10: I contacted Citi Electronics and they asked me to send only the module and back plate so they could test it. That's cute, since it cost me more to ship it back than a new item. I did it anyway because I don't like being taken advantage of.

They said they tested it and it worked fine (yes of course it does). They sent another module and back plate. I plugged it in and the light would not even come on. Emailed them again, got a response that they would contact their technical department. That was 11/15/10 and no reply as of yet.

It's a 6 dollar item. They should have just replaced it. Really bad support from this seller.

----

Edit: 11/19/2010 Still no reply so I turned it over to Amazon. I'll write back again. In any event, beware this seller.

----

Edit: 11/22/2010 I received two new cathode light systems from another vendor today. With three new cathode lights and two new modules, one from Logisys and one from PC Toys, I can now test the module CiTi Electronics sent back to me. Indeed, the module they sent me is bad and will not light any of the cathode lights, including the light that came with it. The light that came with it works perfectly with the new modules. This, all over a 6 dollar item.

Once this CC light arrived, it only took me 5 minutes to install.

Everything plugs in easily; they even give you a molex splitter so that way you dont completely take up a whole molex connector for the light.

After setting up, this CC light is BRIGHT! It blends nicely with my blue case fans and the sound sensitive inverter works perfectly, assuming you install it facing outwards on air holes in your case.

In a nut shell, this was a great purchase hands down.

Honest reviews on Logisys 15" Green Deluxe Sound Activated CCFL Kit

If you are considering the purchase of this item, you already have some idea what you want it to do. The sound sensitivity of this little gadget is adjustable. I would suggest getting at least two of these if you are looking to use this with any item that offers stereo sound, or if you simply want to set two levels of sensitivity to have the lights flash to different beats in the music.

Look up on YouTube "how to" videos on connecting these lights, because there are no actual printed instructions included with the product.

If you need knowledgeable people, consider some place like Radio Shack or a car stereo installation place for what you might need for power sources for your molex connectors or where inside your computer chassis you can find a molex connection. You don't need someone to do it for you. You simply need someone to show you where the connections are located.

Be mindful that if you choose to connect two lights to the same sound sensor, the lights will flash in simultaneously. They will only flash to separate speakers (stereo) or to separate "beats" in the music (instruments vs vocals) if you use an individual sensor for each light kit (included with each kit).

Also included with each kit are adhesive velcro mounting strips, screws and smaller mounting tabs. These are really good for mounting the sound sensor box and switch plate. The adhesive velcro mounting tabs are for mounting the actual lights in the location of your choosing.

Is it cool? Yes. Is it safe for your equipment? ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY HOOK IT UP!

I'd recommend only getting this light if you only plan on using one per module, they tend to dim and don't easily distribute power. don't use these if you plan on doing something other than plugging them into your comp. I got these to light up a buddies bass cab, had to re-wire them cuz they werent long enough and got a better set of nobs and switches, but the wire these were manufactured with sucks. not mention these are only bright at a distance. they could light an entire living room but didn't really do much inside the cab. so again, i'd only use these for pluggin directly into your comp as intended and nothin else.

I am a person that never sleeps at night and when my husband and I travel, I like to take along a book light to read with so I won't disturb him, (or his snoring!).Anyway....I have tried so many book lights, and have found if I like it for hardback, it won't work for paper, or it never really gives the light I need without constant manipulation of the light, the book or me.

Well, I have found that light. This itty bitty slim booklight is exactly what they promised. It fits on all three size books, hardback, trade, and paper, and it is so lightit doesn't make the book top heavy. The double little bulb lights both pages, there is no obstruction when turning pages like in some of the lights, and it is so slim and lightweight, it is great to throw in a purse or briefcase for travel. Thank you, Zelco.....

I was willing to pay the price based on the rave reviews, the travel-friendly collapsible design, the flat base (so you can also use it as a bedside lamp while rummaging in the dark) and the spine clip, but the gooseneck was not long enough for the light to cover all of both pages of even a normally small paperback, and the light was not bright enough to compensate and I generally use these lights in very dark bedroom situations, not in low-light situations like evening train rides where it might do fine. After trying 5 different lights of varying manufacturers, designs and prices, I ended up going with the $12 version of the Mighty Bright LED light. I'd rather have the spine clip than the cover clip, but my 48 year old eyes need the extra brightness that none of the spine clip LED versions seemed to be able to achieve. It's hard to believe this is such rocket science. IF Zelco added an inch to this light and made it brighter, it'd be worth any price they named!

This light works great and is very respectful to those around you. It is a bit pricey, but it really does the job on any kind of book. I read some reviews that didn't like the quality of the piece, mostly regarding the construction and plastic battery door and whatnot. I understand those concerns, and concur to some degree. Having said that, I have used mine commuting roughly in NYC for several weeks, tossing it into my bag and pockets without any injury whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this light to the picky book reader, I've used a lot of lights and have not found its equal. It is pricey, but worth it. The only things keeping it from 5 stars would be the battery door and the price.

Honest reviews on Zelco 11214 itty bitty Slim LED Booklight

I have an obssession with reading late at night. If the book is good I won't be able to put it down until 3 or 4 AM. My wife was constantly complaining about me waking her up and bothering her sleep so I figured I could use a personal light.

I got this because it had a favorable review at Slate

and immediately agreed with the review. The light is LED which should last pretty much forever, I've been using it for the past month on the same set of 3 AAA batteries and it's still going strong.

It fits snugly over the spine of the book and so far managed to fit & light any size book I was reading at the moment (it feels slightly looser on paperbacks). It doesn't require any adjustments when you flip pages which is a plus since most book lights will requires so adjustments on page turns.

Construction is pretty strudy and it slips into a very slick carrying case that you can stick anywhere. and its very light so you almost don't feel the added weight when you hold the book. the battery cover is a little flimsy and may require jingling.

But the best part is that it light the book and the book only. the light sits on top of a tiny crane that you can adjust to make sure the entire pages is lighted adquedately and that nothing else is lighted.

Excellent product, other than the battery cover its perfect.

UPDATE: one more issue I found is that it's very hard to tell when the light goes dim. I use it daily and it goes a little dimmer every day. When it gets hard to read the bottom of the page, it's time to change the batteries

I received this book light for X-mas and I absolutely love it!! It works great with hardcover and paperback books. You are able to light both pages at the same time which is hard to do with most book lights. I also found that this light is very comfortable to use with paperback books and it doesn't weigh them down.

This book light is definitely worth the price!! I've used other LCD lights in the past that hardley light up the page and the clip seems to fit awkwardly on paperback books. This light will fit any book that has a spine on it and give you the proper amount of light without disturbing others.

This light comes with a case and is very portable. It will easily slip into a purse or pocket or you can keep it attached to your book.

I have carried a Streamlight SL-20 for 20 years as a metro police officer. A year ago, it finally came time to upgrade from incandescent to LED since the "little" LED light I carry was actually brighter than my "big" incandescent flashlight. The difference is literally night and day, the LED is probably 60% brighter than my incandescent light was when it was new. I have literally used the aluminum version in the line of duty as a pry bar, battering ram and all other things that would make the warranty department cringe.

I was so happy with the new LED that I also purchased the polymer version (this one) as a gift for mom to use around the farm. The polymer one does just fine for her needs and is lighter for her to carry as she frequently also is carrying something else to, from or around the barn while she has the flashlight to see where she is going or what she is doing. Mom is thrilled with the flashlight and uses it daily, it is bright enough to shine from her house to the barn (about 200 yards) and still see something there.

The advantage (or drawback, depending on how you look at it) of the LED light is that it doesn't dim out, when the battery is done the light just cuts off. Recharge time is fairly quick and the new style charger cuts off when the flashlight is charged.

If I had a need for a couple more of them I'd probably have half a dozen of the LED versions laying around the house.

Comes with a very good water tight seal. This product is very heavy and the build quality could not be better. This particular fixture sits within a foot of our shower head so water tight seal was important to me. It will perform excellently. I am not concerned about water or moisture penetration given it's build quality. The light quality is strong for LED. The only caution is that it is difficult to determine from the picture what part of the fixture is a metal finish. "Satin finish" can refer to many finishes. This fixture has a metal anodized finish on the flat pieces above and below the LED light while the rest of the fixture has a light grey paint finish. So if you're fixed on buying an all metal finish fixture you might be disappointed as I was at first. I was matching this up with all the satin metal trim I have in my bathroom renovation. This fixture would match a pewter finish closer to any metal finish. I quickly learned to live with it after seeing the quality.

I have a Panasonic bathroom exhaust fan (Model# FV-08VQL4) . The bulbs (Model# FDS18E35/4) were busted and I needed to replace them. When searching online I found that the original Panasonic replacement bulbs were selling for about $15. Then I came across this bulb and it worked out perfectly and costed only about $5!! Best of all FDS18E35/4 bulbs are cool white light but Sylvania 20683 bulbs are warm white light. It always bothered me that only one bathroom out of the three in my house had cool white light. Now all of them have the same warm white light. Overall very happy with the purchase.

None of the local hardware stores had this particular bulb. The house is older, with lighting fixtures to match, and we searched all over for this item. Several close calls but none actually fit. I really like these bulbs! They come closer to the incandescent lighting that I'm use to, (which is 2700K) and I did try the 4100K (cool, bluish light 4100K)compact fluorescent light, and am happier with the color output that these provide for everyday illumination. I'm sure others have been a tad bit frustrated with the newer bulbs and what the Kevin rating means, so I hope this helps others to decide. Cool (4100K) bluish lighting is best for higher contrast aka reading books or print, and as a background light for your computer monitor or flat panel screen which improves the overall contrast and helps relieve eye strain.

Honest reviews on Sylvania 20721 Compact Fluorescent 4 Pin Double Tube 3000K, 13-watt

I bought this to replace a GE bulb, but didn't realize that the light was rated in Kelvins, it had more of a "yellow" light than the cool "blue" light of the GE bulb that it replaced. This bulb is rated at 2700K which gives it a 'warm' light, versus the 4100K of the GE bulb that gives a "blue or cool" light. I'm use to dealing with the Kelvin rating in video applications, but this is the 1st time I had to deal with it in a compact fluorescent lighting fixture. So buyer beware. If you like a warm yellowish light, then this bulb is for you.

This item (If you look at the product headline, is supposed to be battery-operated. It is NOT. It needs to be plugged into an AC outlet. And, the ac converter is supplied with the item. But, there are no batteries or battery compartment. I wrote to the seller, LumiSource to ask them if there was in fact a place to put batteries. PRO I like NOT having a battery pack on the back of head.

It uses 2 AAA batteries which makes it lightweight.

I use it mostly for nighttime reading, green light is plenty bright

for reading and uses half the power.

CON The battery life isnt what i expected, but i had been used to a

light that had 3 AA batteries. Instead of the light staying fairly bright

and then dying when the batts died, this light seems to gradually go

dim and dimmer for days before dying. (Maybe it is my batteries, I don't know)

It is a nice lightweight lamp , just make sure your extra batteries aren,t too far away

I had contemplated hanging the lamp from on my cubicle wall, but the middle arm of the lamp must be pulled away from the base in order to turn the lamp on. This makes reading the calendar, clock, and tempurature located in the middle arm difficult if not impossible.

It works. What more can I ask from a light bulb?

For those complaining about short bulb life, did you install the bulb with your bare fingers? Smaller bulbs must be handled differently (example, think headlights), NEVER touch them with your bare hands. The oil from your hands will cause them to run hotter and/or overheat, thus shortening your bulb life. I installed it with paper towel touching the bulb (didn't have gloves), it was a hassle but necessary.

I don't quite know what to make of it. The bulb fits in my lamp, the circuit closes (I can hear a pop from some nearby speakers), but there's no light. I won't bother filing a claim with Amazon for a couple of bucks, but I felt I should share my experience with prospective buyers.

Okay, this seemed like a great light to have. The first one that I got from Tractor Supply worked on the red setting which gave off a ton of red light, but the 2 white light settings were the same. I was not sure if it was the 300 or 600 lumens, but no difference. I exchanged it for another and then plugged it in and the charging light would flash on and off when I plugged it in. Tried a few different outlets and got the same result so basically it was not taking a charge at all. Not sure if it was the adapter or the light.

This was my first Brinkmann experience and last one. Quality control is just not there with this product.

It's very confusing to read the different reviews on this light. The end result is people either love this light or they hate it. I have owned this same light for somewhere over 1 1/2 years now and absolutely love it. Incredible brightness with a clean bleam meaning no shadows is the illuminated area. Fantastic battery life. Hunters want a light that will reach way out there and this light does just that. I personally don't like the range of the red leds. The red leds didn't reach out very far, at least not as far as some of the 2 million candle watt lights I have owned but then those lights goes through a battery in about 20 minutes. I loaned this light to my son and I'll probably never get it back so I'm purchasing another one just like it. I have hunted with my hunting buddies that have purchased other lights and they just don't perform near as good. I definately give this light a 5 star rating and definately recommend it.

We followed all the instructions do not turn on while on charger, do not leave on charger for more than 12 hours, etc., etc., etc.

The light worked great for a month and a half, then it just died. For the amount of money it cost me it should be more dependable. I loved the features but now it is just a useless piece of glass and plastic and worst of all, a rechargeable battery which needs special disposal. I am contacting the company for warranty information but knowing from my past experience with Brinkmann, this will be a tough battle....

This just went out in the trash today as it worked less than a month. I have other spotlights that have worked great for years but thought it would be a good idea to have a spare because of the age of the others. I kept it charged, followed all the instructions and it just stopped charging/working. The light was good on this one while it lasted but the quality of the product is awful. I just purchased another Max Million II rechargeable as the one I have has worked well for several years.

Basic Facts: this is an exceptional product. It provides incredibly bright usable (good white spectrum) light. Excellent range of distance. Red LED option is exceptionally bright with similar characteristics as well. This is by no means a cheaply made rechargeable hand-held portable light but rather of very high build quality. It is certainly in a class by itself; my highest recommendations.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First, let me tell you I know this costs a lot of money, at least at the time of writing. And I almost had to give it four stars just for that, but I assume that it will fall in price fairly quickly and then, certainly, it will deserve five stars. Regardless, I'm giving it five stars for quality, doing what it is meant to do well, and leading the way to the future, skipping CFL entirely.

As a nerd, I can't help but be fascinated by the way prisms were used to help shape the beam of light. Apparently, LEDs are difficult to manipulate on a scale such as this, hence the high cost. Expect that once these become mainstream, costs will plummet.

I compared this to a 65 watt flood light in my otherwise dark basement and noticed the difference immediately. First, there is no start up delay as with CFL. Performance was much better. Yes, this is a remplacement for a 75 watt bulb, but it was more than 10 watts better than the other. You could actually see a broad light pattern on the floor, where you could hardly notice the other was on (from looking at the floor). The light was much more like a natural light than the other bulb, so much so that a few of these could make a basement a much more inviting place.

One great thing that one may not realize immediately, is that LEDs give off little to no heat, so you can touch this all day long and feel nothing, but if you stand under the standard bulb, when in a low ceiling, you fear your hair might catch on fire (seriously). This is even more important if using in a halogen lamp. How often have you burnt yourself terribly when pulling the lamp closer to look under the car or in a dark corner?

Finally, it has a rated life of 40,000 hours. I've heard LEDs never die, but even if there is a limit to its life, think about what that means: If I use it for 40 hours a week (a standard work week), it will last 20 years. If it's in my house, it will most likely outlive me. I've noticed a bunch of other high quality CFL bulbs claim 5000 hours. So...

It's a really neat product, and does what it does very well. I'd love to have a whole house full of these things, and I very well may one day.

Oh, one last thing it is quite a bit heavier than a normal bulb. Not super heavy, but a really weak fixture or one of those pose-able lamps may not be able to hold it. On the plus side, it is much less likely to break should you drop it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This PAR38 LED bulb is meant to replace similar size incandescent or halogen floodlamps. The difference between floodlamps and regular bulbs is the lack of light coming from the back and sides of the bulb; this generally means that you'll find a floodlamp to be unacceptable in a shaded lamp or wall sconce. PAR38s do well in ceiling cans often found in newer construction housing. That said, there are some desk lamps where this type of bulb could be useful. Think of the Pixar logo with the moving desklamp. The problem here is that this particular bulb weighs just about one pound quite heavy for this size lightbulb, and too heavy for a standard moving desklamp. It's too bad because the light from this bulb is wonderful for reading.

Let's talk about the light: after turning on the power switch, there's a split-second delay before the light comes on. It's far less of a delay than CFL, but certainly a delay compared with incandescent. The light then comes up to full brightness within a few tenths of a second. This is a narrow flood I found it perfect for high ceilings in hallways or ceiling mounted (and downward-facing) closet fixtures. The quality of the light is cooler than incandescent and is roughly the same overall hue as halogen lighting. The color on the box indicates "warm white." I'm not sure I'd go quite so far as to call this "warm," but it's certainly better than the very blue quality of earlier white LED bulbs.

The brightness itself is impressive. Directly under the bulb, you clearly have the equivalent of a 75w bulb with only 20w of power being consumed. The beam is rather tight, but not as much as with earlier LED bulbs. You genuinely could use this as a desk light without having a spotlight of bright light surrounded by a dark desk. Overall, Verbatim has brought us a high quality LED floodlight which lives up to expectations in terms of color temperature and light output.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm slowly (Very slowly, given their cost!) replacing the light bulbs in my house with their LED equivalents. So when I was offered the chance to review this bulb, I jumped at it. :>) To make a long story short, I like this bulb. It's expensive, but performs well and generates a lot of light with almost no heat.

A few comments, both pro and con...

This is marketed as a replacement for a 75 watt Halogen bulb, but it's specified as having a 720 lumen light output. A 75 watt Halogen typically puts out closer to 1100 lumen. 60-65 watt halogens are a better benchmark.

Colorwise, they seems to be very close to a Halogen bulb.

Halogens typically last for 2000 hours before they go poof. The package for the Verbatim calls for a 40,000 hour life...but the bulb life isn't defined by when the bulb dies. Instead it defines end-of-life as half of the test bulbs dropping their light output to 70% of the initial output. I don't know if they fade slowly away (and thus could last much longer if you're willing to put up with a dimmer light) or if they reach a certain point and then the light output starts to fall off a cliff. If it's the former, you could have these last much longer than expected.

These are called "narrow flood" lights with a beam angle of 25 degrees. Traditional floods are much broader...I've seen spots spec'ed at 25 degrees. Unless you have very tall ceilings or your fixtures are close together, the narrow beam will create uneven illumination in hallways.

Compared to a conventional bulb, a dimmable LED follows a different brightness profile as you slide the dimmer knob. If you mix LED and regular bulbs on one dimmer, it will look very unbalanced as you dim the system. Also, conventional bulbs turn redder as the voltage drops. These maintain the same color temperature and just put out less light.

Like Halogens, LEDs are virtually instant on. Dimmable CFLs (that I've played with) have a delay starting or take a while to reach full brightness...both of which I find annoying.

Despite the high initial cost, the economics of LED bulbs blow away Halogen bulbs. Not even counting the electricity savings, these cost roughly 12x more than the Halogen equivalent, but last 20x longer. When you factoring in electricity at a (conservative) 40 watts per hour saving, you're also saving 1.6 megawatts over the life of the bulb. Since my marginal electricity rate is $.30+ per kilowatt-hour, that's an additional savings in electricity of roughly $480.

All in all, I really like these bulbs. They're expensive and because this is an evolving product area, you should definitely look around. The cost advantage against CFLs is not as clear, but CFLs contain mercury and these don't. I'm knocking a star off due to the high cost and the overblown comparison against a 75 watt halogen. But it does what it does well and warrants a solid four stars.

Honest reviews on Verbatim PAR38 19.5 Watt (Replacement for 75 Watt Halogen) Dimmable

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I generally like this light, though I do have a couple of observations:

1. The temperature range of the light, while advertised as "warm" is nowhere near the glowing yellowish color that a typical incandescent sodium bulb provides. The light is an intense phosphorescent white. Great for commercial applications, but in a home, it can be a bit glaring, especially if you have white walls.

2. Overall output and coverage provided by the bulb is excellent. The thing really does illuminate a large space as well as a traditional flood.

3. Delay. When you flip the light switch there's a 1-2 second delay before the light actually flicks on. Not that big of a deal, but it takes getting used to, especially if you switch all of your bulbs. I've noticed that not all LED bulbs do this, but it seems to be a fairly common problem.

Final Recommendation: Commercial & Office settings. For residential settings I'd wait and see if they come out with genuinely softer/warmer bulbs.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Talk about robust construction! This bulb is built like a tank, but that also means it is very heavy. Just a rough estimate would be that it weighs in at about the weight of 10-15 incandescent or halogen bulbs of 75W rating. So, one needs to be sure the fixture one is choosing is as robust as the bulb. There are warnings about using this bulb in freestanding, portable lumieres because of the bulb's weight perhaps making them unstable. Also, this bulb is not to be used in enclosed light fixtures, though LEDs do run cool, so that warning is a bit surprising.

It is marketed as a "narrow flood," and that it is. I tried placing it in an in-ceiling fixture in a 9-foot ceiling, and it creates a light-circle on the floor that is just about 8 feet in diameter, and the edges of that light circle are pretty well-defined. Thus, it performs just as advertised, but it would seem to have a fairly limited number of applications -an indoor flood fixture at the top of a stairwell or in a cathedral ceiling. It's a shame this can't be used outside.

It's a fairly bright bulb, though I can't vouch for its claimed 720 lumens output: honestly, I perceive my incandescent 65W can-lights to be significantly brighter, but I can test and vouch for its advertised color temperature! It's "spot"-(pardon the pun)-on at 2700K. I took a series of bracketed white-balance exposures with my Nikon DSLR, and the truest white is dead-on at 2700K. Reaching 3030K, the light source in the image starts to turn yellow, so 2700K it is! Good quality control on that component as well, with uniform color across all the LEDs. Quite a fine design.

Others here have worked out the economics well already, so I won't rehash that, but if you have the cash to invest in these, and if they last as long as advertised, they will easily pay for themselves over the years. They're rated at 40,000 hours and warrantied for 5 years, which is almost 5 years of continuous use, so they should last much longer than that under normal use. Dimmer function works superbly.

Quite a fine, well-made product by Verbatim (Mitsubishi). If you can afford them, need very narrow floods, and have sturdy fixtures, I recommend this to you heartily.
