This worried me at first, as the top piece is not secured onto the flower. It just sits on there, without a clip or seal. There ARE drain holes. (water filling it, was another concern of mine) I bought two. The red one stopped working pretty quickly, less than 2 weeks after purchase. The yellow one continued working. And, surprisingly, worked even when I moved it to a plant pot on a covered porch. (Where it could only get ambient sunlight) The glow was not super bright, but the whole tulip part does light up. And it stays lit longer than many other solar features. So, when I got up in the morning, it would still be glowing.

TorchStar Tower Type LED G4 3200K Warm White Lamp Bulb 13 SMD LED Review
I bought these to replace 10W halogens in my underwater pond lights. They fit my fixtures, the light has reasonably good dispersion, and they are slightly brighter than the halogens they replace. The color, however, is not as warm as I was expecting. I have quite a few 3000K warm white LEDs, both outdoors and indoors. While these LEDs are advertised as 3200K, they look quite a bit cooler. They are OK for use in the pond, but I would not use these for path or garden lighting.
Updating Sept 23 (after about 3 months of use). Dropping the rating down to 2 stars because one of four bulbs has failed with the LEDs on top flashing intermittently.

Ordered a couple of these to replace 10W Incandescent bulbs for land lights. The pins are a little long, but they fit perfectly in the Malibu spot lights. They are a little brighter than the 10W incandescent bulb and are VERY close to being a soft white. I actually like these better. I highly recommend purchasing these.

Great Lamp. This is a very modern, sleek looking light with fantastic LED light output, low voltage and green technology. There are 4 light choices and multiple intensities and a USB port. Dick De Bartolo, the Giz Wiz gadget guru on the TWIT network recommended it and I agree with most of his recommendations. I love it. My only problem with the lamp is that the light strip part does not rotate. The light gets in your eyes since it is bright. I would like to rotate the light away from my eyes or have an opaque edge facing the user. All in all its a GREAT BUY. I can live with this very minor design limitation.

After my work desk lamp accidentally broke, I needed a replacement. I really wanted something that would look nice on my desk, and after reading some reviews I thought this LED lamp looked like a good combo of form and function. I hadn't really thought about having features besides brightness settings and on/off, but I really like the different "modes" of this lamp, as well as being able to charge my phone! Very nifty.The modes of this lamp are a lot nicer on my eyes, especially when I'm working throughout the day. The softer lights are perfect for reading (especially at night), and the brighter lights are better for when I'm working at my computer. I've heard that a "bluish" tinge can affect LED lights, but that doesn't seem to be the case with this lamp. It even has a timer, which I suppose would be nice if you like to sleep with a light on. The lamp has a glossy finish, and has several pivots so you can move it to different angles.
Cons aren't too bad. The power adapter is pretty big, so if you're short on space on your outlet or power strip you might have to move some things around. The touch screen is fairly responsive, but sometimes requires one or two additional presses.
All in all, a very solid LED lamp. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good looking lamp with function to match.

I was in search for a lamp that could give me the feeling of natural light. After using this lamp, I was truly impressed with the emitted light. On a daily basis, I read a lot of documents and the lamp provides that natural sun light feeling which makes it easier on my eyes. The design is great, and it looks great next to my mac computer. In addition, its great that I no longer have to crawl under my desk to plug my iPhone charger as I can charge it directly into the lamp.Before this lamp, I tried out a few cheaper versions, and ended returning them. This lamp is great and everything about the purchase was excellent.I am looking at replacing many lights in the house with LEDs as the need arises. I came across a review of this lamp on mashabledotcom and decided to check price on Amazon as my usual first step. At $100 without my accustomed free Prime shipping I was not an easy sell but decided to proceed nonetheless.
First good sign was getting an email from the manufacturer/seller. I do not recall the content of the message but it is enough to say that this is an unexpected pleasantry in this day and age of internet shopping. When the lamp arrived there was no question as to its likability and ease of use. I do like the various lighting modes and am happy that by going with LEDs that I am saving money on my power bill and having a light which puts out much less waste heat than my other incandescents and bedside reading lamps.
I have now ordered a second and will most likely add a third as other members of the household are showing desire for my lamp. I do like the color selection of black or white but this could be further expanded for better decorating options.
A few of the pluses that I like are that it has a solid base, various lighting levels and colors, a USB port which has been fine for charging a smart phone (did not try tablet), and what I consider a low profile mode whereas the body folds down and the lamp can still be left on i.e. a nice little night light for kids that can even be triggered off after 1 hour by the built in timer.
A few improvements that I can think of: adding slots on base that would allow wall mounting, ability to turn lamp on to desired lighting mode vs. need to power on then select mode, further telescoping arm reach.
Overall I think this is a great addition to my home and hope that it will last a very long time.
8/14/13 Update now that I have been using this for about 6 months. It has worked extremely well as bedside lamp and now that I have 3 in full time use, I am getting a request for one more.
My general use seems to be to turn it on when I sit in bed for the evening and I leave it folded down and have it set to come on at the third level. This seems to provide enough light for basic tasks like seeing laptop keyboard. I do extend it when reading and it has replaced my previous halogen reading lamp for all but the most intense needs.
All 3 units in my house are bedside and all are used for charging a cel phone whether it be an iphone or an S3. Have never had an issue with getting fully charged phones overnight using the usb outlet on the back.
My younger child leaves it on as a night lamp at the lowest level with the timer enabled to shut off.
Still very happy with this and would be glad to give more stars if I could.

I ordered one of these from Amazon.com because they are not available on the UK site. I thought I would have to buy a 240-110V step-down transformer as well, but was delighted to find you don't need one! The lamp comes with an external power-pack exactly like a laptop, so it works with universal voltages.It does come with a US-style plug but the powerpack is like a lot of things these days in that the main pack has no mains pins, and you snap-on a connector to the main pack. Unfortunately mine only came with a US-style connector, but it uses the same connectors as you get on the powerpack for a Nexus 7 tablet so I just used that. Alternatively a simple US-UK plug adapter does the job.
The lamp itself is great, very minimal design, the variable hue and brightness settings are excellent. On full setting it gives off a good spread of bright light without being at all blinding, and at only 11W is very wallet-friendly to run.
Would have given it 5 stars, my only gripes are that they only include the US plug connector (the standard UK and European ones can't cost more than a few cents, surely?), and it would be nice if it were a little taller. It is not that it is actually short, it is normal desk-lamp height, but I have placed mine on a raised filing cabinet next to the desk to light the whole desk rather than the standard area that a desk-lamp tends to cover.

I bought 6 of them at a big box store and the installation was quick and simple! This new model replaces the HALO (Cooper Lighting) model ALED3T24. The only major difference that I was able to notice was that the housing & ring are made from a die-cast hard polymer, rather than a painted cast "pot metal", like the earlier model ALED3T24.
They are "AIR-TITE" since a gasket is supplied to fit between the outside ring and the ceiling.
There is NO warm up time what so ever! The light is a bright white and cool in temperature.
I also had to replace the dimmer that is specifically made for CFLs' & LEDs'.
The shape and color of the inside bulb housing on the ones I purchased are round and black, unlike the square and white depicted in Amazon's picture of the product.

I bought these lights on the basis of some good reviews. I remodeled my living room recently and installed Cree LED recessed lights. I have been very pleased with them. These Halo LEDs appear to have similar specs to the Cree, but they sure don't seem like it. The Halo lights are not as bright, and they seem whiter and cooler. The Cree had a better spectrum of light, in my view. The Halos will do the job I guess, but it will take some getting used to. These are a very good match to the Sylvania lights (LED recessed). I started doing the whole house with Sylvania. I have approximately 75 can lights. I did not realize until 1/2 way into the job that I had some shallow cans. The Sylvanias will not work. Had a problem, thought both units were defective, but there's a bubble button on the back of the LED light and press it hard enough and then the light goes on. I bought 5 of these at homedepot for around $37 each.I mounted them on the backyard fence so that the light is downards.The base is designed for in ground only, i managed to install it on the fence, drove 2 long nails and tied the lamps base with a cable tie, it holds well, These lights gives a nice light,these are not too bright to light up your whole backyard,its very comparable to most of the solar leds out there, The charging panels are nice with a good surface area,The more the surface area of the photovoltaic cells the more charge they generate, there by minimizing the charging time required.It spreads light on my plants and shrubs , they look beautiful in the night with the warm light on them, It also lights my walk way enough so that i can walk without using any light. Im very happy with the purchase, The lights glow for long time, havent checked how long they will glow until the morning, I plan to buy a few more to complete assembling them on my entire back yard fence, wish they were cheaper than $37, i noticed that the price of these have been going up at Amazon, it was $39 when i last saw it listed on Amazon.There is a Malibu spot light which looks similar to this one but it concentrates more on a spot( little brighter on the spot), these wall wash spread to a greater area and in my view look better and economical than the spotlight.

Installed ten of these in a 1/2" drywall ceiling. Used a 3-1/8" hole saw. They are short enough to fit if the ceiling has 2x6 joists. The electrical box works best with romex if you punch out the knockouts and use a romex strain relief. That way the wires are secured better as you work the unit into the hole.
Snap-in eyeball housing holds the GU-10 lamp easily and securely and allows aiming. I replaced a few of the included 50-watt halogen lamps that run very hot with 6-watt 3-LED CREE MR-16 lamps that produce almost no heat but put out the same illumination. Very nice.
These come with white painted trim. The tiny units make my old 6" can lights look really clunky and old fashioned. The new generation of miniature LED lamps will mean totally redesigned and more compact ceiling lights.

these were just what our kitchen needed! Easy to install, easy to replace the stock halogens with LED bulbs, by the way, the height of the bulb does not matter in this fixture! I was so stressed trying to figure out which bulb to order and seeing all these nightmares about the bulbs not fitting...no need to worry with this, it will fit any height as the cover is what is holding the bulb.I couldn't find a 3-1/8" hole saw, so I used a 3" and made the hole a little wider with a box cutter...pretty easy. You want these to fit snug anyway. I don't use the directional feature as I surrounded my island with all 6...no need to turn any of the bulbs. it is so bright!!

Use a 3.25" hole saw (the included template is metric & translates to 3.2" technically). A 3-1/8 will work but is tight enough that removal could damage the drywall.
These are NON-IC, meaning insulation must be moved 3" away from the housing so they can vent heat properly.
The included halogens provide a warm, yellow natural light with moderate dispersion. Other options are LED (whiter light, lower dispersion) or CFL (less white than LED, more than halogen, best dispersion but slow 60 sec warm-up time). The CFL & LED use about 90% less electricity than the halogens.
NOT for wet locations like a shower. Bathroom is OK everywhere but in the shower.

We bought these as part of a remodel project of the dining room and bar. I originally bought a track light but changed my mind when I saw these. They are in a drop ceiling over the bar and are connected to a dimmer switch to create the right amount of light for the occasion. Lights arrived on time and in good condition. I already had power above the drop ceiling so using that I ran romex 14 gauge wire to the first one and then daisy chained the rest. each light has it's own electrical connection box. I installed these into wood using a 3 1/8 hole saw but had to grind it out a little so a 3 1/4 probably would have been a better choice. I am using the 50 watt halogen bulbs that came with the lights, they can be replaced with LED's with the U10 base which cost more than halogen but use much less power and have longer life (6 watts v 50) for the same amount of light. If you choose this option and use a dimmer be sure the dimmer is certified to work with LED's or it may not work due to their low power draw.

These lights work, and they do tighten up as another reviewer said they won't. I've had mine for a couple years and the sensitivity to movement does lessen over time, but you can increase the sensitivity by adjusting the dial to make up for it. Also, I wish the light could be made to stay on full bright mode all the time from dusk to dawn. You can do this by turning the light switch off (assuming you have a switch to control the circuit for this light) for one second and then back on again, but this mode resets when dawn comes. This is why I'm rating it 4/5 stars. Still, you can set the "bright" mode to stay on for 20 minutes after it detect motion, so that's not so bad. In sleep mode, the lights are reduced to about 1/2 brightness. This unit is not what I expected from Heath/Zenith. The light I was replacing was 7 years old and the day/night sensor went out so I bought this replacement unit. It is about half the weight of the original and nothing tightens, so if you get a wind it moves the sensor. Don't waste your money on this peice of junk. There are units out there that are half the price and just as good.

It's funny how little things mean a lot. This night light is by far the best night light I've owned and I have owned it for over 7 years. I have purchased 6 more of these lights since I first wrote the first review and MANY of the lights do quit working it's not the bulb. Buy with caution -it seems about 50% are great and will last for years with replacement bulbs, and the others will quit with no reason -one didn't work when I took it out of the box new!!!! Yikes. Try another brand.We found loose wires on some of the units and were
able to get several years use with replacing the bulbs.
I wish I hadn't thrown the others away before opening
them up to check the wires... Live and learn

From the reviews, it was clear that buying this item was a crapshoot. Some folks lucked out and others didn't. Initially I was happy with my purchase -liked the non-LED light, the motion sensor, and 90 second shutoff. After two weeks, the range of the motion detector got smaller and smaller. It used to go on when i was about 3 steps from the room. Now i am 3-4 steps into the room before it turns on.It doesn't recognize the overhead light or daylight consistently and is on most of the time. It also goes off when there is motion. All in all, this purchase was poor judgement on my part. I should have given more credence to the negative reviews. The quality control on this product is abysmal.

I use these in combination with the green low-energy night lights. The low-energy night lights provide reference points in the dark and these (near the stairs) come on when there's movement. Good coverage and sensitivity.Update: I still give these five stars. One of them lasted over two years and the other one is still doing duty in the kitchen over 4 years later. These give off a soft light that illuminates well.
175 Watt - ED28 - Metal Halide - Unprotected Arc Tube - 4000K Review
We use these bulbs in our garage bay at work for indoor auto detailing. The ones we had before (not Philips) lasted roughly a year and a half or so. The bulb puts out crisp, clear white light with a minimal blue tinge to it. Just right in my opinion as the light is very "clean". Spring for this one if you want a clean white, non-colored light.
