Cheap Bulbrite CF12SM/WW/E12 12Watt Compact Fluorescent Coil Candelabra

First and foremost on this review. The bulb itself came in an individual cardboard box. I purchased 3 bulbs and each was individually secured. I have had a lot of problems buying light bulbs sold on Amazon and also at the local stores. Often times the bulbs are not packaged well. The bulbs move around in the clam shell and I end up finding one broken. Of course Amazon refunds my money and the local store takes them back....but it is still a hassle.

These bulbs since they are each in a well shielded box should be ok. I hate buying a light bulb that may have been tossed around prior to my getting ahold of them.

I purchased these from Amazon at a price of $7.71 each bulb and of course free shipping via Amazon Prime.

They do appear to render a full 60 watts of light. They are not however daylight brand so they have that yellow tint. They are as far as I can tell instant on.

Bought 5 of these. One malfunctioned within days and had to be returned. Four months later one died. These cfl bulbs are supposed to last over 5 years. Though the size and brightness were perfect, their reliability makes them a bad purchase.

I ordered two of these. One worked fine, providing significantly more light than one of the 40 watt incandescent bulbs I was replacing in my ceiling fan. The 2nd Bulbrite CF12SM would not light. I tried it in two different candelabra sockets that worked fine with other bulbs. So I returned the defective unit, which Amazon quickly replaced. I was disappointed to find that the replacement would not work either, so I asked Amazon for another return / replacement. Customer service would not ship another replacement and instead provided a refund, telling me to dispose of the defective bulb rather than return it. Before throwing the defective bulb away, I took a good look at it and noticed that the tip at the end of the threaded base was about 2 mm shorter than that of other bulbs I had on hand. I realized the tip was not making contact within the socket and this was the cause of the failure. After applying some additional solder to the tip, I now have a working bulb. Presumably the initial defective unit also had insufficient solder on it's base too. Apparently quality control is poor at the factory, which is too bad as the bulbs appear to be well designed and engineered, just a simple step of the assembly process is deficient for some units.

1 of the 2 bulbs I ordered burned out after 2 months. I cannot recommend buying these. Unfortunately, there are not too many options with the candelabra base. Next time I will buy the adapter to convert the candelabra to a regular light bulb socket.

I purchased a fan (Westinghouse Lighting 7877500 Arcadia Two-Light 46-Inch Reversible Three-Blade Indoor Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel with Frosted White Alabaster Glass) on Amazon which had two 40W Candelabra bulbs that were not very bright. I had tried LED, CFL bulbs which either buzzed or were too long and stuck out. Then I found these bulbs that fit perfectly and would dim a little, no buzzing and much brighter. I like these because they use battery power and do not use ghost power by being plugged into an outlet. These lights are well priced at about $5 each ($15 for set of 3).

The light is very bright! I bought 2 sets, but after seeing how bright they are I am fine with just 2 lights. I'll figure out where to put the other 4...

The light has a magnet in the back cover and there is a metal washer that you place where you want the light to mount. The included 3M foam tape sticks to the washer and you can stick the washer almost anywhere. The light is then held to the metal washer because of the magnet. It holds to the surface well and removing the light to replace batteries is a breeze.

The motion sensor seems to work better when approaching from the front of the light than from the side(hallways). When approaching from the front, I would estimate the light turns on from 4-5ft. away. When approaching from the side, I would estimate 2-3ft. away.

The switch on the inside has three positions: off, auto, on.

Off is off. Auto uses the motion sensor to turn the light on and only works in the dark. On keeps the light on.

These are better than the AmerTac outlet type night lights that I own.

I just received these light this week and I am -verypleased. These lights produce more of a 'nightlight' level light, they are not 'room' lights.

The magnetic mounting option is great because it is very 'low profile' in case you want t pop the light off if folks are over for a visit and might think these are tacky when they are gone you just pop the light back onto its quarter-size magnetic mount easy peasy.

A few notes for prospective buyers:

1. You need to prove your own AAA batteries x3 -perlight ( the box comes with 3 lights = $7 per light, so no batteries supplied is very reasonable). I always keep a box of these (another purchase I can recommend) in my fridge... DURACELL AAA PROCELL Professional Alkaline Battery (Box of 24)

2. Thereis a tiny (!!) switch at the top left INSIDE the battery compartment (see my uploaded photos) that has OFF/AUTO/ON position. It is set to OFF when the lights arrive thus when you insert the batteries you will need a pencil tip or paperclip to move the tiny switgh to the AUTO or right ON position. Note also that the tiny switch is facing up towards the top of the unit, thus to move the switch you will slide it right or left from below.

3. One of my 3 lights did not work initially (even with switch in ON position) but I removed the batteries and rejiggered them a bit, reinserted, and the light now works fine.

I bought one box of 3 lights to "test"" them and see how I like them (or not). I have decided, based on my impression, to get more sets (no, I'm not a 'paid reviewer' and if you think I am, feel free to skim the review I wrote for my Friedrich KUHL 12,000 BTU a/c (which was sent to earth by the devil himself)).

I hope this review and my photos are helpful to those looking for a light like this. Happy 4th of July everyone!

After two weeks, two of these Frostfire lights seemed to fail and would no longer detect motion.

I found out that the top battery in both Frostfire units was dead (100%->30%)and the bottom two batteries were almost untouched (100%->90%).

These lights should last a lot longer than two weeks without having to replace the batteries.

Besides that, they do have better construction than similar lights and the swiveling light is useful as well as the detachable magnet mount that allows easy replacement of batteries.

These work great for my hallway which is really long. So I use 2 (1 near each doorway). These lights are just right, they illuminate the area well and come on as soon as you walk into the sensor area and stays on long enough for you to pass through. My suggestion is to put it above head level, it will still pick up movement but it won't blind you in the middle of the night. I love this pack because it came with 3. They work great!

I have to agree with the other reviewer that these are much brighter and whiter than you would think, but I have them mounted on the front of my garage, and there they look great. The sensor works well, they come on at dusk and go off at dawn. We liked them so much we bought two more for our back doors. But they probably are too bright for a porch light. And by the way, we also got them at Costco for $29.99 each.

I bought my AL-2149 Altair LED outdoor lantern at Costco for less than the Amazon price. The lamp seems much brighter than the advertised 60W incandescent equivalent. More like at least 100 W. For my front door, too white, too bright, makes my house stand out as the brightest and whitest on my block by far. I will probably be returning this lamp in favor of a warmer (light color-wise) replacement. Still very impressive, much more light than expected from 13W LEDs, seems like a good product, good price, ultra low maintenance.

See the 3 bunches of ten green leaves together like a branch of leaves? Well those three branches were all blood red glass! The light looked more like a massacre than a garden. My client hated it, so I exchanged it. The next light had brown fall colors for the branches. My client did not like that too well, but she kept it anyway because she was tired of waiting to get her project finished. Finally broke down and tried one of these, as I've been seeing them in furniture stores and garden centers around town.

At $40, they're not cheap so I was disappointed when I unboxed mine and watched it flicker once before refusing to work again. Upon closer visual inspection, it seems this product is very cheaply made. Some of the base plate screws weren't even in all the way, and the battery contacts were at odd angles (this is the first thing you should check if you can't get the lights to work, as most bent springs can be nudged back into place with a finger or pried upward with a screwdriver).

Anyhow, after removing the base plate and peeling back the black electrical tape around the wiring and timer board I found that one of the leads had become unsoldered at one contact point, mostly due to lack of solder. I managed to clip, strip, and resolder the lead wire and resistor and the product worked perfectly after that.

So if you're not the magnifier and soldering iron kind of person, you might want to hold on to your receipt and/or try these at the store before buying.

I bought this item for my sister, who frequents outdoor concerts. We always sit out on the lawn with small table, lawn chairs, a little wine, a little cheese. The tree is just enough light when the sun goes down and looks so much better than flashlights or lanters. Great additional to our summer concerts.

Just so buyers know under "Important Information" it says bulb voltage is 120 volts which is wrong. The voltage to and from the switch needs to be 120 volts. But the voltage to the bulbs (LED's) is low voltage depending on the dimmable low voltage transformer. It can be 12 volts, 24 volts, etc.

Having said that this dimmer is an outstanding dimmer. I like all Lutron dimmers, switches, wireless blinds, etc. They make great products.

Almost ideal replacement for traditional BR30 Floodlight, with a great look (simpler than the corresponding Philips, and very similar to a traditional one).
