First and foremost on this review. The bulb itself came in an individual cardboard box. I purchased 3 bulbs and each was individually secured. I have had a lot of problems buying light bulbs sold on Amazon and also at the local stores. Often times the bulbs are not packaged well. The bulbs move around in the clam shell and I end up finding one broken. Of course Amazon refunds my money and the local store takes them back....but it is still a hassle.

These bulbs since they are each in a well shielded box should be ok. I hate buying a light bulb that may have been tossed around prior to my getting ahold of them.

I purchased these from Amazon at a price of $7.71 each bulb and of course free shipping via Amazon Prime.

They do appear to render a full 60 watts of light. They are not however daylight brand so they have that yellow tint. They are as far as I can tell instant on.

Bought 5 of these. One malfunctioned within days and had to be returned. Four months later one died. These cfl bulbs are supposed to last over 5 years. Though the size and brightness were perfect, their reliability makes them a bad purchase.

I ordered two of these. One worked fine, providing significantly more light than one of the 40 watt incandescent bulbs I was replacing in my ceiling fan. The 2nd Bulbrite CF12SM would not light. I tried it in two different candelabra sockets that worked fine with other bulbs. So I returned the defective unit, which Amazon quickly replaced. I was disappointed to find that the replacement would not work either, so I asked Amazon for another return / replacement. Customer service would not ship another replacement and instead provided a refund, telling me to dispose of the defective bulb rather than return it. Before throwing the defective bulb away, I took a good look at it and noticed that the tip at the end of the threaded base was about 2 mm shorter than that of other bulbs I had on hand. I realized the tip was not making contact within the socket and this was the cause of the failure. After applying some additional solder to the tip, I now have a working bulb. Presumably the initial defective unit also had insufficient solder on it's base too. Apparently quality control is poor at the factory, which is too bad as the bulbs appear to be well designed and engineered, just a simple step of the assembly process is deficient for some units.

1 of the 2 bulbs I ordered burned out after 2 months. I cannot recommend buying these. Unfortunately, there are not too many options with the candelabra base. Next time I will buy the adapter to convert the candelabra to a regular light bulb socket.

I purchased a fan (Westinghouse Lighting 7877500 Arcadia Two-Light 46-Inch Reversible Three-Blade Indoor Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel with Frosted White Alabaster Glass) on Amazon which had two 40W Candelabra bulbs that were not very bright. I had tried LED, CFL bulbs which either buzzed or were too long and stuck out. Then I found these bulbs that fit perfectly and would dim a little, no buzzing and much brighter. Perfect for eating or reading with two of these in a dining room approx 12' x 10'. 5 stars
