This is the perfect egg candler for our Elementary School Embryology Projects .. no worrying about the kids tripping on electrical cords, or burning themselves on a hot bulb. The multiple lights really illuminate the egg, and we could see the embryo perfectly .. even on the dark brown eggs !

Very bright lights but the "soft rubber and plastic edges" description is not very accurate. This is pretty much simply a flashlight with bright led lights. I thought from the description, the end of the light had a nice soft rubber seal type thing that would press against the egg and direct all of the light into the egg. This is NOT the case. Light can still escape around the egg, which causes you problems for seeing the candled egg. I hold my hand around it to block it, but it could work MUCH better with and nice soft rubber seal on the light. The candled egg in the picture could be accurate and your eggs will candle that way too if your eggs are EXACTLY the correct size and dimension to fit the end of this flashlight.

All this is, is a $.99 type flashlight you get at any Dollar Stores. Don't waste your money unless you need an overpriced flashlight.

Just tried this and is really a glorified LED light with a rubberized housing. This is really Just a flashlight with rubber housing. We were expecting the LED light to be brighter than the one we bought for $2 at the local store but actually the lights were less bright. Not worth the cost really just a cheap LED light with a rubberized housing. Its not worth the extra cost and shipping when you can buy a brighter LED light for a total of $2-3 and its brighter than this one.

Works well for a candler, but could just buy one at the drug store for the same or less price.
