Once I figured out you needed to push in AND twist to get the end caps of to insert the batteries it has been smooth sailing. For the size it puts out a very bright light. The 30 minute auto shut off is good that it saves batteries but sometimes is a pain. We have installed two. Put in the super high quality batteries and it runs forever.

I love this light. I initially got one at Home Depot. Same price point. I put it up in my kitchen in a dark spot and the light that it reflects when all the other lights are off in the house is lovely. I didn't buy it realizing that there was a magnet attaching the light to the base, but it's already come inn really handy when the power went off and I got to carry it around the house as a flashlight. The automatic shut off is a nice touch. I'll be buying these for the closets as well as more for under the cabinet.

I bought two of these lights to use as under-cabinet lighting. To attach the holder/base to the underside of the cabinet, you have the option to use screws or a peel-and-stick adhesive. The adhesive option worked beautifully for me. The light stick can be titled slightly to the front or back, or straight down to put the light where you need it most. The intensity and range of the light beam is completely adequate; this is especially noticeable when you use it as a hand-held light. And lastly, it is true that if you place the light stick in the holder with the on/off button facing front, you tend to use one finger to push the on button. Pushing even a little too hard will knock the light right off it's base. To remedy that, just place turn the stick around and place it in the holder with the button facing backward. That way, when you reach up to turn the light on you will probably lightly grasp the stick in the middle, with your thumb on the front and use your fingers in the back to press (rather than push) the button. (There's no other change in how the light looks or operates.) The button is right in the middle, so after you use it this way once or twice, your fingers will know exactly what to do. You just have to be smarter than the average flash light! I have never knocked it off since!

We bought this for our closet after a 3 LED dot-it type light proved to be inadequate. This is way brighter than the dot-it which is strange to me as it is only 1 LED as opposed to 3. I also find the push button easier to activate than the switch on the dot-it light. The magnet on ours holds just fine.

I have bought and returned 3 different lights from Home Depot; as none of them worked in my DARK, TALL CLOSETS. Tried the florescent ones. They lasted 3 days and the light was extremely weak.

This light puts out more light than anything I've tried. Very easy to install. Magnets attach the light to the base. Can turn the light a quarter of an inch left or right to get the light pointed in the direction you want. Also comes off base easily. I click the light on, take off base, look for my shoes in the deep, dark corners, find them, then attach back to base. But also very decent as a general light attached to the wall of a dark closet.

Went back to Home Depot and bought another one for the 2nd closet. BONUS: Comes WITH batteries.
