The output on this Nite Ize 1 watt bulb is equal to or even brighter than the stock incandescent bulb. I installed this in my 8 year old 3D Maglite and it has brought new life to the flashlight. The incandescent bulb would go through a set of batteries in roughly 6 hours (useful beam for ~2 hrs). This bulb puts out light that is consistent and lasts for ~26 hours and shuts off around 28 hours runtime.

I choose this led bulb over the ones offered by Maglite because this one does not suffer from output reduction due to thermal throttling after the first 10 minutes of leaving the light on. The Maglite led bulbs are 3 watts so if you use your light in short bursts instead of steady on, then that might be a better fit for you.

Overall, this bulb is a no-brainer buy if you use your incandescent Mag regularly, or want to again after letting it collect dust in favor of more battery friendly lights. This bulb will honestly pay for itself in just 1 set of batteries over the incandescent bulb.

This thing rocks! I have used similar products from other companies that cost a LOT more and this is the equal to any of them.

I have tested this in a variety of 2 cell to 4 cell lights and it has performed well. It gives a nice smooth beam pattern with a good balance between throw and coverage, and the 3 I have all produce a pleasing white light (no odd green, pink, purple color tints that are common in LED lights).

I also like the fact that it works with a range of battery configurations (2 to 6 cell), instead of having to buy a specific model for each light.

I used this to upgrade a 2D Energizer HardCase Flashlight I had picked up for $4.99.

While the price was right the light was not. I had not seen such dim beam since the early

1970s. Fortunately, Nite-Ize saved the day and I now have water and shock resistant light

more powerful than my 3D Maglights. Highly recommended.

Does just what it says it does. Transforms a cheap 2D flashlight into a modern 1 watt led product, with much better light and battery time. Keep in mind that Nite Ize makes this one product for ordinary C/D cell lights and other products specifically for Maglites. They have different sized bodies and are not interchangeable. One of the nifty uses of this is to take a World War I/II type bent angle 2D cell flashlight (olive drab is the traditional color) and substitute this for the bulb. So now you have an inexpensive, tough car/house/camp light that throws a good beam that will last a long time on a set of batteries and because those military type lights usually come with color filters, you have that as well.

It's a great idea. This bulb in my old waterproof, shockproof D battery flashlight is/was not only much brighter than the incandescent, but saves batteries (and the hassle of replacing them). I spent more on this than it would have cost to buy a brighter new led flashlight. I would have been OK with that extra money if it lasted. Less than a year of very light, infrequent use and now I'm back to square one.

The good news is the bulb costs about half as much now as when I purchased it, but having been burned I'll be getting a new flashlight from Costco this time. If it goes bad I can always return it.
