First of all, this is meant for a in ground flag pole. However, the bracket that comes with it can be easily mounted under a house flag, The brightness was surprising, as was the duration, even under less than ideal conditions. Mine is set where it only gets sun for half the day, and it is bright all night long. Even on overcast days, it still provides enough light to properly illuminate the flag at night. Greatly exceeded my expectations!

But still a good stand alone solution to lighting your flag I will need to move it right up to the flag to get a better effect. The straps I got in the kit would not fit on my 3 inch diameter flag pole so I used electrical wire ties until I get some other screw clamps

Not a bad light. More than adequate brightness for here in "dark skies" Arizona on a 20 ft flag pole.

What they don't tell you is that the mounting bracket is only for 3.5" to 5" diameter poles. Grumble, grumble. A few minutes in the shop and I bent the bracket to fit a smaller diameter pole, but also had to go get shorter strap clamps to mount it. They should include a bracket and straps for the common 2" to 2.5" poles.

They say it needs 8 hours of sunlight to fully charge the batteries before use. I think that is the trick to get maximum brightness--make sure the batteries are FULLY charged. Not wanting to wait I popped out the batteries (3 standard NiMH 1800 mAh AA batteries) and charged them in my battery charger in 3 hours. Now I don't have to lower the flag at sunset.

I purchased this item two days ago and thanks to Amazons Prime I installed it today. It was real easy to install and it does light up decent from what I see tonight. The only issue I have and the reason I can't give it 5 stars is that they said it was 100 lumens and the box specifies 50 Lumens. This was the reason I went for this model over other versions. I feel sort of scammed on the slight of hand advertising.
