If you need a BRIGHT head lamp then this may well be the one for you. It works by depressing a flush mount button on the battery pack which is a bit hard to locate. It works by pressing the switch on a 5 way cycle. One press gives brightness level one on through the third press which gives you full brightness. The fourth press gives you a full brightness flashing light with about a 50% duty cycle. Press it a fifth time the lamp goes out.
I cannot speak to battery life as I have not used it enough to deplete a set. If you are not worried about night blindness by not providing a couple of red LED's then this should be a fair purchase.
