We ordered this fan with light in the brushed aluminum finish for our bedroom. While it is definitely a "presence" in the room, it is sleek and quiet. One warning: our very competent electrician installed the fan quickly and easily but struggled with the "programming" of the fan to the remote control. While a wall switch is used to turn the fan on and off, all the adjustments (speed, light on/off/dimmer, and direction)are controlled by the remote control and, to quote the set up instructions "there are 32 different possible settings for this fan" which are established by setting the switches in the fan and the remote, which is apparently somewhat complicated b/c when the electrician finally got everything to match up and work he reported that "it's working but I can't tell you how I did it." So, don't lose the instructions and whatever you do don't lose the remote! It's only been up and running for about a month, but it seems to work very well, and no need to get out of bed to turn off the light or adjust the fan. Great as long as we can keep tabs on the remote.

We were looking for a quiet, modern, attractive, well-made fan for the bedroom. This one is all of those things. I wanted a fan without a remote. I prefer a wall switch that stays put and does not require batteries, thank you. But it seems every higher end ceiling fan comes with a remote, and this one looked so nice, so we bought it and I installed it. The assembly of the unit is just a little confusing, but hang in there. All of the required parts really are there. You can get it together with patience. The directions warn you to wire the fan exactly as instructed, so I took that as a personal challenge to wire it differently. I bypassed the light output of the fan's control module. This allows me to control the light with a wall switch instead of the remote. I then installed a 2nd switch on the wall that turns power to the fan's control module on and off. This allows me to control the on/off function of the fan from the wall switch. The fan "remembers" it's last setting if you cut and restore the powerthat is why this works. So the only thing I now use the remote for is to change the direction or speed of the fan. My light on/off and fan on/off are controlled with the wall switch. I know, I probably voided the warranty with my re-wire, that's why I gave this beautiful, quiet, well made fan 4 out of 5 stars.
