I originally ordered the wall-mounted model, but that didn't even work from the very start. Exchanged for this countertop model and after a week of use, ready to call this a big failure. After a full week of use, it stopped working alltogether. The Big Problems:
cheap construction means faulty apparatus: the battery compartment had to be perfectly adjusted (playing with the coil contacts and holding batteries in place as back was screwed back into place) just to even get it to start working. The slightest movement (sliding the device a few inches to the side) caused the batteries to pop back out of place and having to go through the process all over again. Also, the side button is a large rubber button put on top of a pin-shaped trigger, so when you push it, the rubber collapses into the device without any support on the sides.
poor motion sensing capabilities: we tried it in the complete dark, partial dark, and dusk settings always the same issues. It seems to be sensitive to approaching movement (would turn on as you reach towards it possibly to throw the worthless thing against the wall), but would very rarely turn on to any swiping movements like walking by the device. Since the whole point was to avoid having to reach out to turn on a light switch, this was a complete failure for our needs.
30 seconds is only 30 seconds: we never timed it, but the thing would invariably turn off within a short period of time (it says 30 seconds in the description). But, since the device was 2 feet away on the bath counter, well you kinda got left hanging in the dark at the most inopportune moments.
inadequate manual: the manual simply has instructions for installing the batteries (just pictures) and explains nothing of the button, which appeared to control different settings, nor guidelines for the motion-sensor function.
The one good thing I can say about this device was it was cute and put out a perfect amount of light to not blind, but to also illuminate a 4 foot space. Too bad it just never worked.
