We ordered two of these and neither worked so we returned them thinking we just got a couple of lemons. We then ordered two more, and both of those were defective also. Out of the four total units, three never did anything and the fourth barely lit up and flickered ominously when it did. We tried incandescent bulbs and CFBs and in several different fixtures with the same results all around. It would have been great if these had worked, but no such luck.

I purchased this after asking the kids to turn off the light in their bedroom closet again, again and again. Finally, I can check their room and no light is on! Works great! All they do to turn it on again is flick the switch off, then on again. I was skeptical about buying these after reading the other reviews. Overall they work, however I'm unhappy with them on 2 fronts:First of all, the name and description are incorrect. These can handle a maximum of 60W bulbs, not 100W like the name says. Even the image of the product shows the 60W limit on it. This is just plain sloppy and there's no excuse for it.
Second, I ordered 2 of these and 1 was defective. When working correctly it should shut the bulb off after exactly 15 minutes. One of them did that, the other one never shut the light off at all (I kept it on an hour just to see). I exchanged the defective one for another and this one worked just fine.
So yes, the products do work, (provided you get ones that aren't defective) however the description is most definitely incorrect.
