I am very picky about lamps. Before trying this TCP lamp I have never found a CFL that I like. I base my opinions on color temperature, color rendering, brightness and instant-on-capability. This lamp satisfies all of my requirements except for the instant-on quality. But please allow me to explain I purchased quantity twenty (20) of these lamps. The majority of them power on to full brightness almost immediately. However some of them do not. They power up to about 70% then take another thirty (30) seconds or so to achieve full brightness. I do not know why some of the lamps are good and some are not. Regardless of this capability I am very happy with the TCP brand CFL lamps. Amazing warm color temperature without the "greenish" tint you get from *MOST* of the CFL "warm" lamps.
Update as of October 17 2012: I purchased another case of these to install in additional fixtures throughout our residential situation and we continue to be just as happy as originally reported.

I don't know jack about light bulbs and less about CFL types. I purchased the 50K temp, which I found out is a very bright white as compared to a regular light bulb. The bulb is bright, very bright. It is also not as tall as most cfl bulbs I have seen but a little wider. I'd purchase these bulbs again for sure.
