These have the same construction as the blues. I get the impression from their operating appearance that the prismatic-plastic globe material has an inherent gray-blue tint to its translucency. This results in a somewhat weak red appearance, I think. I still like them, but visually they're just OK...not outstanding like the blues.
My guess is that the reds would be better looking if their globes were made from glass. I can understand how that wouldn't be feasible at this price-point...I'm just guessing that it would look better.
