i guess that I just had high hope for this light. when I first got it no name on packing thought that was odd . then realized that it has some odd sized battery. then put the batts in and... nothing. then when I send for a return slip they want me to tell them why its not working like i'm some kind flashlight technician. very disappointed do not buy!!!

the extra battery does seem to have a bit more brightness than my 501/502 (1000Lm). However, it is about twice length so as a weapon ideal to carry I prefer my 501/502 mostly.

I have bought 7 Cree flashlights in the past couple months. I have one mounted to a rifle for hunting and the others for various uses around the house, in the car etc. This particular light has a variable beam that zooms into an intense light in a square pattern. For hunters who spotlight varmints or hogs, this light will easily do the trick for a couple hundred yards. Compared to my Surefire lights, these batteries appear to last longer--the construction is durable with tight tolerances and it has a quality feel. For the price, you can throw it away and get a new one if it breaks. The seven I have range from 250 to 1600 lumens and combined they are less than one mid-range 500 lumen light from higher end companies. I'd highly recommend.
