The light color is similar to an incandescent, and cooler to the touch than halogen. I wanted LED, but I wanted a warmer color and fully dimmable LED technology isn't there yet and this is. It does warm my lower shelf after it's been on for quite a while (hours), but not so much that I'm afraid the heat will affect items stored there. The 48" is perfect coverage for my cabinets, with no gaps in light.Easily installed. Be mindful, if you want to plug it in to an outlet, you need to buy a cord.
