If you need a zwave fan switch in a three-way install, this is the accessory switch you need. It works well and does not look bad when mixed with other types of switches. I'm using this in a house filled with Cooper switches. I've found that the fact that it looks different ends up being a plus when it's placed in a multi-gang box since you don't have to guess which switch operates the fan. Do yourself a favor and listen to the advice not to place fan loads on a standard zwave light switch, they make noise and burn out. Remember, this is an accessory switch for three-way operation; you need to buy a master switch to use this.

I guess these are OK but cost a ton compared with switches which do similar functions. Makes for an expensive 3 way switch

You need to use this remote switch in 3-way applications where you want the LED lights to operate from more than one location. You can't just use two standard Leviton dimmer switches and get them to work in a 3-way circuit, irregardless of whether you want the LED lights to operate or not. This switch will also not work by itself, you must use it in a 3-way or 4-way circuit with a standard Leviton dimmer. I liked using this switch because when you set the dimmer the LED lights match at more than one location. They don't sell this switch at Home Depot or Lowe's and the price is good here on Amazon.

We have installed several of these switches around are home and have been very happy with them. It has been going strong for almost 2 years now with no issues! My reasoning for 4 stars is when dimmed to low levels it does exhibit and audible hum, but so do the other switches, so I would assume it is characteristic of the design. I have alos noticed it does get a bit warm when holding dimmed values. Switch was easy to install and i would purchase again!

I started to build my "Smart Home" using z-wave technology. All said and done, I really like z-wave better than x-10 though I have tried the Insteon. I chose to go with Leviton because they are very respectable brand that has made quality products. My house was built to code in 2008 so the electrical system is clean and documented. I figured this would be a strait forward installation.

The Visia RF + system is a little more complicated than installing normal light switches so I had an electrician help me do the installation (which they recommend). One of the big issues is that not all the functionality is properly documented, the documentation is especially lacking a troubleshooting guide. It was a breeze to install the Vizia RF+ Dimmer in a single pole configuration. I had to have an electrician help me install the remote dimmers because the documentation is a little confusing, even for someone who is handy. The wiring has to be perfect for it to communicate to the dimmer (I used a Leviton VRI10-1LX, which is awesome!). I will eventually post a like to what I discovered so all you DIY folks out there.

So be warned it is not as simple as they make out but once it is up and running, it is damn cool.
